Why not the Flux HP? the MT4 is very popular in europe not in the states so when it comes to parts the HPI would have more support

Dont see the need to spend the extra 130 bucks on the hp when the 2350 is crazy fast and all the same anyways. Now if the hp was waterproof then I would buy it.

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

dude you can waterproof any thing use CORROSIONX !!! look at my e-revo pic in my garage for proof lol i heard the flux HP comes with the stronger diffs and drive ups esc motor ... 130$ its worth it

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

Why spend the extra $130 if you don't have to?

The MT4 is a better handling truck and is equally as durable as the Flux.

Parts are readily available from Tower.  For many of us without a LHS within 1 hour's drive, Tower is as accessible as any other store.

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

I would go for the flux hp for many reason, parts support, aftermarket hop ups galore, the esc/motor combo i way better than the 2350 and that alone is worth the extra 130 dollars, on top of all this the mt4, as functional as it may be it is the stupidest looking truck around. I like a nice looking truck, maybe Im too hollywood, but looks are an important factor to me.

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

Again, Tower carries stock replacement parts for the MT4. Parts are easily obtained. Most Mom N Pop LHS's
order from Tower's wholesale division, so its not like they won't be able to get parts if you want to go that route. There are plenty of aftermarket hop ups available for the ST-1, the Nitro "sister" truck, so if you want to go that route, you can do that, too.

If the worst thing you can say about the truck is "it looks stupid" then it has to be worth checking out.

again, the mt4 is not my slice of bread, especially in the visual department, this is my OPINION, which is what the OP is asking. This coupled with the parts availability at most hobby stores (INSTOCK ITEMS) seals the deal for me. I would go the hp route, but would still prefer the 2350 over the mt4.

No worries, I wasn't trying to bust your chops for your opinion.  I respect your input completely.  I just think the "parts availability concern" is a little exaggerated, that's all.

just watched a video of the mt4...wow...talk about judging a book by its cover. that thing looks pretty tough. i must ask, is it based off a truggy?

LaTuFu 01-25-2012 05:25 AM

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

Yep, the "innards" are based on the TT ST-1

If the tires are as tall or higher than the hood it is a Truggy not a Monster truck.

Get the savage flux. The aftermarket support for any savage is HUGE, and parts can be found anywhere. Sure you could get replacement parts for the MT4 from tower, but who wants to wait to get parts? Plus the savage has really good electronics.

Some people, like me, live in an area where there is no LHS support. So we're waiting for parts whether we like it or not. And when your truck is more durable, there is less down time to begin with...

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

thats very true, but that thing being more durable than a savage or even a LST is highly unlikely

LaTuFu 01-30-2012 11:20 AM

RE: Savage 2350 or Thunder Tiger MT4??

Actually, yes, it's more durable than a Savage.

Not sure about the LST, there aren't as many direct comparisons of the two out there. Given the durability rep that the LST has, if I had to guess right now I'd say the MT4 will at least be in the same conversation as the LST. Time will certainly tell.

I can't help but think this is a troll post when I see stuff like this.

If you're asking a serious question, why not tell us what you're looking for in a monster truck, and we'll go from there.

In the UK the MT4 is £200 cheaper than a Flux HP. <div>
</div><div>for me the real question is "Is the Flux £200 better than a MT4" </div>

I bought a 2350, wish I'd bought an MT4. There ya go.

The MT4 is a better car though, who wouldn't want to spend some of the money saved on the admittedly awful body? Dude, I feel a need to point out to you for your own good... The Thunder Tiger truck is better than the Savage. Noticeably, if for one reason and one reason alone...it's a 1/8th truggy underneath the monster truck clothing.
