Steering upgrade from Hitec HS-645MG

I have a 645MG on my T-quake, and I'm still not happy with the performance. I want to upgrade, and keep it under $50.

The stock Mammoth servo looks like it would be an upgrade, but I haven't seen anyone run one for some reason.

I was also thinking about going with a 1/4 scale servo.

Well, you can always go with the Hobbico servoes! They have a standard size servo that can pull 200 oz at .19 sec. However, Hobbico servoes are bare-crap quality. Even Hobbico knows this because on their trainer plane, the Nextsar, they use FUTABA servoes! Go figure. :)

I am shocked that the Hitec 645MG is not enough.

I have large offset tires MT3 and run a kimrough servo saver.

Should I cut out the servo saver and just buy extra servo gears?

you'll have to pony up $80-$100 for a really Good servo that both has speed and torque

I am very surpriesed on how that servo can't help you more. Do not buy the Mammoth servo it is junk. Even though it is rated at 177 it does not worth a crap. Hobbico same thing. I run the 645MG on my Mammoth and Have no problems, plenty of speed somethings too much so I slow it down. And the Mammoth huge. But if still want more, stick with Hitec or JR servos.

I have a 5645 servo in my savage. Its a monster at 168 inoz of torque. It also has a metel gear train, is digital, and waterproof. It retails for 60 bucks.Im still waiting to do the mp upgrade although it looks easy enough.I put a large(very large) kimbrough saver on and its good enough for now.It will turn the wheels all the way when still on the ground.

yeah I had the truck in the house on a thick rug, and it was whipping the wheels around like they were just dipped in melted butter ;)

very pleased with them so far.
