breakin on pavement or grass?

Hi all,

I just picked up my first nitro RC, a Revo 2.5. The breakin procedure says to do it on pavement, but I don't have any nearby other than the local volunteer fire department. Is there a reason the procedure needs to be done on pavement, or will I be okay on grass? Should I mow the grass very short if it is okay to use grass? (I am assuming pavement is recomended so as to have the least amount of drag/load on the engine?)

Thanks,
Tai

The first couple of tanks on a break in should be done at low rpm's. It will be more difficult to get the truck to move on the grass at low rpms. You are better off on the pavement. Small circles are just fine for break in... can you use your driveway for the first couple of tanks?

maybe. the driveway is mostly gravel and some packed dirt, but has trees and brush on both sides. If I can use small circles, maybe I can use the 'main' road, it is a fairly hard packed surface. Thank you so much, I want to get this baby running! :)

that would be better than grass I think. do figure 8s as well, nothing fast.

Grass gives more rolling resistance than a harder surface. You don't really want the added strain on it during break in.

To me that gravel looked rather good for break in. Have fun, it is so exciting.

I broke my maxx in on the street in front of my house. I think the grass will require too much power and RPM for brake in IMO.
