Opinions on a servo.
I was looking for a new steering servo for my mgt, for racing.
i found these. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/5733 http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...oducts_id/3826 I like the first one cause its cheaper and faster. But will it have enough torqe to turn my wheels on my mgt. |
RE: Opinions on a servo.
the jr9000t is a real good servo i run it on 2 of my vehicles for steering plenty of power and zero issue. its on my nemesis and hyper 8.
That ace servo has some pretty good reviews but i have never tried those before |
RE: Opinions on a servo.
WEll im just wondering if 200 0z of torqe is enough to turn my mgt.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
the ACE servos are awesome, mate runs all ace on his LST, and his wheels go from full lock quicker than u can say wow lol, mind u hes runnin lipo as well, but there still plenty fast, it turns his nemisis tyres easily, and all of the other tyres he has which is alot lol

RE: Opinions on a servo.
So since ace is a distrubitor of Thunder tiger i take it that this is the same servo.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
prettyu much, and to give u an idea, the stock steering servo in the MGT is only around 100oz of torque, so u iwll have around double the torque to turn the wheels and more speed, but its digital, so it will drain your batteries a fair bit quicker

RE: Opinions on a servo.
YA i know im getting a 2700 mah pack with a super brain charger.
|
RE: Opinions on a servo.
I have ace servos on my revo with 40 series tires and it turns full lock to lock on carpet.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
A lot of guys in the truggy forum are using Ace servos (myself included) and have nothing but praise for them. I dont think you would go wrong with them. The new Associated servos are exactly the same as the Ace servos, both are made by Thunder Tiger.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
Will this be a decent battery for it.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
You should probably jump up to lipo's, the pack you are looking at is NICD not NIMH. I would DEFINITELY get the ACE servo. I know someone who has that ace 1015 steering servo. The speed is INSANE and torque is PLENTLY.

RE: Opinions on a servo.

RE: Opinions on a servo.
I have run 7.2v packs with my MGT for a year now with no problems... Steering hitec 5955 dig .15 sec/333 oz, Throtle & break hitec 5985 dig .15 sec/172 oz, shift hitec 645 .20 sec/133 oz... I don't run a side pipe so they mount between the battery case and engine mount straped down with velcro belts.... They run about $10.99 - $15.99 1500ma... I get quite a bit of run time out them and due to the two digital servos I don't worry to much about the 7.2v because of the power draw... Hitec has great customer support at least I have never had a problem... If a servo fails within two years of purcahes they will replace it any time after two years the cost is only about half the actual price... I just returned a couple of servos 5945 dig and a 645 cost me $8.00 for shipping... I have had these servos since 2002 I only had a problem with the 645 and they replaced it in 2004 never had a problem with the 5945 until now and it was my own fault... :( They replaced the 5945 with a newer model the 5985 for $40.00 and replaced the 645 for $20.00 shipping from hitec was $10.00, $70.00 total for the two new replacements I'm happy with hitec ;)... I try my best not to mix and match servos brands I pick hitec back in 2002 and have stuck with them because of there customer support... Thanks Mike Mayberry

RE: Opinions on a servo.
:) I can't speak for the other company's other than hitec... I hope other members can provide the same feed-back about Futaba, Ace, Jr, Airtronics, and many others... I will sugest this! Buy a good quality servo and don't worry about the cost just pick the brand you like and hope the have good customer support! If you should ever need it repaired or replaced you will most likely have better luck with a good quality servo!! Having a company stand behind there product in the event it has to be replaced paying half the price is better than full price...:)
