I bought Rctrix.com hex screw kit from my lhs.
Stripped the heads out of 5 screws trying to get them in.And the crappy wrenches that came w/ it.
Then had to drill them to get them out fncking up my $75 JT chassis.
And front bulks.
At $17.99 this stainless steel screw kit is no better than the crappy phillips head stock screws.

What do you experienced Maxxers use?

The nasty cheap supplied wrenches are usually to blame.

Anyone that uses the cheap hex wrenches to put in a new hex screw set....................................... well, should know better. If you are stripping numerous stainless screws you are either installing them crooked or doing something else wrong. Stainless hex heads are VERY hard to ruin.

Most experienced R/Cers have a good hex wrench set to use. Like a Hudy, or Trinity, or WEHA set.

Sorry to say butit's more often the user than the product. No sense in trashing the product line.

I would suggest not getting stainless steel screws. I got a set of the black oxide from www.fullforcerc.com . RCRaven also has a set of the black oxide ones. They are 12.9 grade and will last longer than the stainless screws....

This is were I get my screws, they are good quality and inexpensive. And the service is great.

Stainless screws are softer than alloy, I use alloys. Stainless is pretty and wont rust but the heads will strip much easier than alloy.

Only use good quality hex wrenchs and avoid using the ball type wrenches unless the screw is loose.

Use only high graded steel screws like black oxide or metric blues. Aluminum, Ti, and stainless steel are no good because they are weak compared to steel screws and will strip out really easily even with good tools. I have some full force's black oxide screws and a bunch of Metric 12.9 grade black oxide screws from McMaster Carr on my Rc's and have had no problems at all.

I got it worked out.
The 3x8mm size the screws are really soft.
The rest are pretty good.

Instead of buying screw kits, which are expensive for what you get, for a particular truck, why not just put together a list of the size screws that you will need and order in quantity from www.microfastener.com? They have about the cheapest prices around. Plus, doing it this way, you'll always have some extras, just in case you loose some. And ALWAYS use good quality allen wrenches; they aren't that much more than the cheapies.
