Savage Running to Hot could Be GPM PIPE

Hey my savage is running around 300 and i richen it up still very hot i just put a GPM pipe on it and when i run it it runs fine for a bout 4 min then it it started to run you bad and turn it of becuase it to hot and then try to start it up and it dont start then i wait about a 30 min it startes up what should i do

You gotta understand that a tuned pipe is PART OF THE INDUCTION SYSTEM in a 2 stroker application.

So yes this does make sense. Apparently, this pipe makes your engine run lean so you will probably richen ALL your needles and not just the HSN.

300 is WAY TOO MUCH for that engine. You want to keep it below 275.

1) Write down the needle settings you have right now.
2) Turn BOTH needles OUT (rich) by half a turn.

Run the MT once more and record the temperature every few minutes.

If its still running at 260 or more.. richen the HSN by 1/8 turn and that should be good.

I dont want to tell you how to tune a car, but that should do it!

Uh oh.

I have some bad news buddy. I think your engine is shot.

3-4 gallons is about how much these cheap engines last.

Once it heats up, it lets all the gasses right through, and heating up.. shutting down and refusing to start is a clear indication.

Take the engine out and see if you can turn the crank.

If you can turn it by hand with ease, you gotta bit the bullet and buy another motor!!

Spend the money and get something good. A cheap engine will last you about 3-5 gallons but a good one will last you about 8-12. And thats a conservative estimate for a $350 engine.

3 engines.. 5 gallons each at $170= 350
1 good engine 10 gallons at 350= same thing!

But.. you do get more performance for the entire time with the good one! Thats the way I look at it.

hey could you just change the piston and sleve would it work then and Would a .26 last long or not the stuff you see at the top is a wish list

Actually yeah.

You can get that pinched. Sure is worth the money!

Just repinch it every 3-4 gallons and after it fails get a nice sirio or rossi :)

the .26 will put out a little extra torque in my PURELY SPECULATED OPINION (aka.. dont hold me up to that lol)

But otherwise.. a good .21 can beat it!
Why? Because when you change one variable.. everything changes in thermodynamics.
And changing the displacement is enough to change many factors like critical flow and minly turbulence.

When you think about the 35000 RPMS that the engine goes through, this stuff gets extremely important! One change can make or break the performance.
Thats the difference between a bad turbocharger and a good one like the ones offered for R/C kits..lol
