TNX speed question

Is it possible to get a stock tnx past 35 mph? and how can i get it to do the usual 45 mph of monster trucks? (that includes ending its stockness)

RE: TNX speed question

Which TNX is it, the original 3.0 or 5.2R? RCCA clocked the 3.0 version at 39 mph stock, but I don't think they got much more out of the 5.2R for some reason. It could've been differences in the weather or fuel used. For the 5.2R, you could go with a larger clutch bell to get more top speed, that big block engine should pull it good enough. For the 3.0, the easiest way to get more speed out of that is to put an OS .18TZ in it and then get a larger pinion gear on the clutch bell, say a 18 or 20 tooth. New Era makes both of those pinion gears for it.

it's the 5.2r that i'm talking about. and i had a feeling that it was the gearing. thanks!

RE: TNX speed question

It's kinda weird the wide range of top speeds, even the acceleration graphs shown in various magazines for the same model. The 3.0 has a 37(radio control monster trucks summer 2004), 39 (rc driver jan 2005)or 42 mph (rc nitro sept 2005)top speed depending on which mag you read. Sometimes the accel graphs do not match the distance to time written and makes it really difficult to gauge performance. Does anyone else notice this?

Either way the TNX 3.0 or 5.2 is quick!

There are waaay to many variables to make a precise speed measurement. Everything comes into the picture, fuel/tuning/weather/ and all those goodies. Tom.

RE: TNX speed question

There could be a number of reasons why you are not getting top speed. You could be running to rich, your slipper could be to loose or you could of lost a grub screw in the drivetrain. Also check your clutch shoes for wear. I have 11 TNX's and all of them are faster than 35MPH. How old is the truck? Maybe the engine has lost compression. Is the Transmision shifting into second? It's hard to tell why it's not going fast without seeing it run. A video of it runnig would be very helpful.

OMG!!! now that's what i call serious addiction! O_o
but i don't know where you learned to count, because that's 15, not 11. or are 4 of them not tnx's?
