Well, I dont know much about RC Rock climbing.. But I have aseen a few trucks in my LHS that are some seerious climbers.

Few things I know about em :

1) They have very tall gearing which limits their top speed to a paltry 10-30Mph Range. But the torque they produce is kick ass!!

2) They have springs that help them TWIST as well as change their track (and in general move in every direction).

3) Their suspension is VERY soft.. so they dont bounce off but instead "land" and grip onto any surface they fall onto.

I maybe wrong but this is what I found out.

I dont think normal MT's are just converted into Rock climbers.. I think you gotta have the chassis and other groundwork specialized for the application

They are definitely pretty cool tho!

rock crawling is great!! THats all I do with my truck. Many MTs will do it. I dont kow what was in vid but clodbusters are good. Anything that has good torque and 4wd and lots of suspension movement will do ok. I have a wild dagger that I have modified to crawl as good as a clod just about. Another main ingredient for getting good traction would be to lock the differentials too. Have fun!

Clodbuster modification

Check out this page, lot's of more insane RC climbing and crawling like the video, and there is a guide on howto convert a clodbuster into a seriouse crawler too..

yes, they still sell clod busters. and they use 4 link, solid axle suspension with cantilevers hooked up to the shocks. my friend has a clodzilla kit, his truck tops out at about jogging speed. (~ 9mph). it will push your leg out from under you though with tration and torque though

Of course! Hook up one to a skateboard.. :) :)
Weeeeee... Hi guys!! Just carry a fuel bottle and you can take a tour of the neighborhood real quick.

You know.. a LOONG time ago I had a remote controlled 8WD truck. IT was about 10 inches long.. with REALLY stubby tires.

That thing could climb just about anything! Its was extremely cool. IT used to turn like a tank.. the right bank would turn to turn left etc.

Anyway, I can only imagine how much air my buggy could catch off that ramp :) (if it doesnt bottom out while hitting it).
