Default RC10GT2 Speed

Thinking of picking up a RC10GT2 and dropping a LRP Z.18 S engine into it. With this setup, will it be able to hang with a Jato? I'm just looking for something that can run 50-60mph. Can it still attain these speeds with just a single speed?

It should be able to... you might want to go up one or two teeth on the clutch bell to really get it up there.

I could (before the guy smashed it) easily get my RC10GT up over 50 MPH with an OS .18 CVR 64t spur and 18t clutch.

(I forget the exact sizes), but With a 22t clutch bell and a 50-something nitro DS. ??? spur, I could get about 65, but the engine would run a lot warmer.

Keep the tranny gears stock nylon, the extra rolling mass of steel will slow it down. If you want less friction, you could go with ceramic bearings.

my gt2 still has the stock ae .15 engine, a 54 tooth spur and a 21 tooth clutch bell, it halls along prity fast (but probly not as fast as a jato), and it still pulls wheelies with ease. they are not the fastest trucks out of the box, but they will kill a jato on the track!!

I went ahead and bought the FT Kit and got the upgraded 22T clutch bell. I'll either drop a O.S. 18CV-R or a LRP Z.18 S into it. I have both motors lying around. Which one would be a better fit for the RC10?

correct me if im wrong, but i beleive you will need the os cv-rx(s) for the gt2, it has a shorter crank.

You can just cut the shaft... You can use all crank styles in a GT.

ok sweet, then i would go with the lrp, according to the specs it revs harder, and puts out more hp.
