Default anyone here ever have a Tower Hobbies ST-15?

I've been working with one and it's now highly modified; wide rc-10 suspension, tuned pipe, full bearings and all.

What would be a good, easy to drop in engine? Mine is losing compression and leaks fuel everywhere.

I'm looking at the Nitro Star .15 and the O.S. .15 cv-x. HPI claims 1.2 HP out of the Nitro Star and I'm suspicious.

Also, what's a more powerful steering servo that'd work with the "System 3000" electronics in this car?

Thanks for any help,

John.

I'd either go with the OS or a Dynamite motor. Its even an old model, so it has been perfected; http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/D...ProdID=DYN0880

Dynamite products are cheap, but are actually very good. One of their ESCs i've had has lasted about 3 years now with a 15t 540 going from car to car.

For a servo, any with Futaba plugs will work; http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._0_22s_60.html

I just put an HPI .18 Nitrostar in my black tub 10GT, and I'm very happy with it's performance. Scored it for $85 shipped on ebay, a WR8 take out that came with air cleaner and clutch. This was a slide carb SG shaft model (I wanted SG; bigger bearings), so required mount & linkage alteration, and a GT2 clutch bell for SG shaft (the WR8 bell is mod 1, I'll use it elsewhere). I haven't put a radar on it yet, but with the 20T GT2 clutch bell on the RRP 65T spur, I am estimating speed at 40-45 MPH, with excellent acceleration (as in carries both front wheels much of the time, flips over backwards pretty easily). The rotary carb short shaft version should be a drop-in for you, though.

For you servo, if it'll fit, the Savox SC0251 is awesome. I'm running this on my beast GT. Width and height are standard, but it is a bit longer than a normal servo. No problem fitting in the RC10GT, but I have not looked at an ST15 chassis.

It's pretty visible in this picture:

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the dymamite. Also, sixty, did you seal up that motor for air leaks or just run it as is?

sjhm, I'm afraid .18 is too much power as the st-15 spur gear is plastic and strips rather easily.

I don't chase air leaks unless they are present
