RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Another issue: I'm having trouble mounting the 18 CV-RX to my MT-2. It seems that the pull starter assembly hits up against the body post mount not allowing me to line up the screws on the chassis. Any advice???

Your body should be mounted to maximize the heads exposure to rushing air.....so it should be mounted as close to the chassis as possible

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
lel it helped alot to lower the body and i changed the settings so i have low end not high end power and that helped to which i like but kills the starting time cause i took about 20 min. trying to start it...does the idle screw settings mess with starting? if it does than what should it be set at?

thats him but I am waiting to see some speed runs on video and some radar runs would be nice. Waiting to see if you can get anywhere near the speeds he thinks he can get. He is doing a real nice job and it really looks neat. If nothing else it will sound great.

Yes it looks really neat but waiting to see if you can get the speed out of that 4 stroke like he thinks. The problem with the 4 strokes they only turn about 1/3 the RPM of a 2 stroke.
One thing for sure they have plenty of torque so pulling all that alloy should not be a problem.
Wish he lived close by to see how it would do against my TZ!

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
I do not have a video camera. I do know to keep the front wheels on the ground most of the time I went from a 15 CB 52 Spur to a 16 CB 47 spur. My TZ turns around 34,000 RPM a 4 stroke 13,000 RPM. Alloy does not make a RC vehicle tough as I have been there done that and have the T-shirt as well as will never go back.
shvdcat has one fine looking MT and very interesting project.

Are there any hardened steel differential gears out there that will fit the MT2? I'm ordering the hardened ring and pinion but I don't see any hardened internal diff gears for it. Also, does anyone make an aluminum diff case for it as well?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Do not know of any one that makes any gears for in the diff cup other then the stock ones. I have not had much problem with the stock ones even with my TZ. The only diff housing I know of sorry to say is made by GPM. Sorry to say I had to get one for my back diff do to the stock plastic one was giving to my flex and eating up my hardened final gears even after shimming when I put my OS 18 TZ in. They sure could have made them a little better but seem to be working. I got mine off ebay. Now Nova makes alloy diff cups.
