how would an O.S. cv-rx .18 do in a single speed MT2? would it be able to use all the rpm in a single speed.
any problems to sort out on a cv-rx when its fresh out the box, does anything need to be tweaked?

There should be a little bit of play in the cb but not too much. As long as it turns freely and doesnt move too much front too back you are ok. When you set the mesh there should be a slight bit of play there too. Just enough to get a piece of paper between the gears without it tearing.

Well since you asked.
This is the final build with the TZ and the buku pipe. The truck absolutely flies now. If I hit the slightest bump it will put the truck into a wheelie. I cant wait for it to warm up so I can see what it can do with a real tune.

The truck looks great. Its tempting to get a TX - maybe when I blow up one of my G3's.

I have 2 sets of the GPM alloy shocks. I use them on both my MT2's and so far so good. They have fairly thick bodies and the springs are heavy. They work well for me. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them. If you watch on ebay you can get them at a pretty good deal sometimes. I got my second set of 4 for $28.
Im also using an alloy steering assembly that I got used but Im 99% sure its GPM too. It helps eliminate the slack that the plastic setup has.

You got the titanium spur gear? I have heard that there soft and dont last that long. Another thing is they eat power from the extra weight. Not trying to be an ***** about it but if you set up your mesh you can run for a really long time on a plastic spur gear. I have been in this hobby for some time now and only have stripped 1 spur gear and that was from the aluminum clutchbell wearing out on my redcat.

I agree with eminent. I prefer the plastic spur. Its also provides a cheap weak point in the system so that if something binds it damages a $3 spur rather then something more expensive.

Yes its harder but at the same time its more maluable meaning it can be formed into other shapes before busting kinda like putty if you know what I mean. So over time the teeth start to get pushed to one side and eventually there will be enough play for the clutchbell to strip the teeth off or in an even worse case the teeth on the clutchbell and the spur gear will but up against each other and possibly bend your crank or clutch bell. The only time plastic will do that is when you melt it. Any time you change a plastic part for metal your slowing down your rc, even worse if its rotating mass. And dont trust GPM parts for extremely stressed areas. There made from lower end metals most of the time. The shocks, c hubs, steering knuckles, steering rack and rear hubs are the best parts from them. The plastic spur gear on my mt2 has already had tons of abuse from the tz and its still like new. Just set it up right and away you go man.

The savage is great for jumping and wheelies. The MT2 is very stable and a decent jumper but not as much ground clearance. If you can afford it, do with both..

I agree, both is best. You can't go wrong with either truck although they are very different. I have both but if I had a gun to my head and had to choose one truck only I would keep my savage X ss

The best way is to buy her something she wants, then slip the truck in afterwards.. Kind of hard for her to argue at that moment...
