RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
how lame! lets put the g3.o in the same dang truck and release it to the public as the mt3. i mean seriously it took a paid group of hpi engineers to develop this junk. any mt2 owner can go out a buy a g3.o for 134 buks and call it a day. why even release a newer model. i would love to see someone try to sell a old car with a new motor. and tell you that its the latest and greatestl. what a crock! its cheap ass innovations like this that show that the people at hpi could give two dog turds about the st/mt class. you can honestly tell me that people(college educated) get paid for this sort of cat poop. sorry about the vent but i expect more out of this industry. this is the true reason why this market will remain in infancy for the rest of its life. companies unwilling to meet the demands of the modern day hobbyist.
it breaks down to what they supply. regardless of what are demands are...... and their ineffiency to find out.
some things on the mt3 that should come stock with the g3.o motor but dont....
heavy duty ball cups.
cut metal gears for diffs
adjustable aluminum turnbuckles
motor mounts
even a heavy duty/vented clutch bell
a 3 shoe clutch.... try finding a 2 shoe at the lhs. they say its getting phased out of st's
watever im mad at hpi for this. but dont worry they will keep stealing from the true followers of the hobby. by releasing ss verions of this phony donkeys behind poor excuse of a so called ''new'' truck.

I am using pro-line bow ties m3 and snake eyes m3 tires with the supplied foams. I think part of the problem is that I am using a non pull start engine and a light weight li-po receiver battery which is making the trucks rear-end light.
Thanks Gran
I will try your set-up as soon as tower hobbies sends me the graphite shock towers thats been on back-order for the passed three months.
I seal my diffs and fill with silicone diff fluid 7,000 wt in front and 3,000 wt in the rear, it works pretty good, they don't seem to leak.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Greetings all! I have been busily reading this massive thread ( Im on 135 in a week) doing research on what car to get. I have a friend with a Revo and another with a highly modded E Maxx. We run em almost exclusively at the beach 2 miles from my house, where there are many perfect sized dunes to jump. We use them mostly to fly, and since its sand, I am more interested in low end torque and acceleration than speed. I used this thread to research the MT2, which I thought would be the perfect truck for what we use em for. Its light, quick, geared well, and fairly durable, according to the forum consensus. I got mine yesterday, did the diff shimming after work, and got her ready to go for the next days break in and first runs on the beach. After work today, 3PM, I went to an area near my house, paved and long, for the break in. It was smooth as silk. I had absolutely the most trouble free engine break in Ive ever had. It started instantly almost every time, with a mere snap on the roto button. The roto worked well, no complaints thus far. After i had her broke in, I headed to the beach for some fun. I took it easy at first, but at the end I was hitting the 45* vertical dune which we routinely get 10-15 high backflips with the Revo. I only used half speed (scarred), even still she hit 10, no flip, and landed like a feather (5 pounds lighter than the Revo or E Maxx.) The MT2 was so nimble both on the ground and in the air, I have never been so happy with an RC anything. Thanks so much for all of your help and great postings, you helped me to pick a superb truck for what I intend to use it for. I cant imagine a vehicle handling any better. Now to get a new pipe, air filter and some mashers! I cant wait to get out there again tomorrow. See you all again soon. Thanks again.

My MT when I got it was the MT 1 Racer that did not come with and engine. I wish they would make a MT 2SS kit with out the engine so the user could pick what engine they want.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread
Bottom line is if you have a RTR the pot metal ring and pinion gears (final gears) are going to go bad. If you install the heavy-duty gears like in the SS kit shim them properly and keep off the throttle or brakes when landing from a jump they will hold up fine! This is only ONE of the reasons I do not recommend the RTR MT! [X(]
