yeah, after hearing how it eats gears, I think an e-mt2 would be cool, get the 18ss, get a 550 or higher brushed, install it instead of the motor, be nice and quiet, just a thought

I have used the springs and it does make a difference. It makes the diff limited slip. Same thing as using different weight diff oils but since the MT does not have a seal easier to use the springs.

Do you still have to use diff oils? or can you just use the springs. I've ordered some and they are on the way!

Just use the springs. These are no seals on the diff cases (like there are on the savage) so the diff oil would (maybe) leak out.

The G3.0 is already factory assembled. The 18ss kit is something that you assemble yourself. The advantage with the kit is that you become very well acquainted with all the parts, and how it runs from putting it together. Another thing... Is you can sell the HPI motor on ebay and buy the far more superior OS 18 CV-RX motor that many are putting in their MT2's. I myself had bought a RTR MT2 and now looking back I wish I had bought the kit instead.

Yes you will still need some lube and I recommend grease as it will not leak near as bad as diff oil.

If you put a gasket in it you are going to have problems, as the gears are not going to mesh properly and good chance they will strip easily. Now if you run a gasket I recommend machining the diff cup down the same thickness as a compressed gasket.

Na, i'll just get springs. Which ones do you recommend for mostly road / flat grass use, with the odd jump over a small hill?

For that I would think the stock springs would be adequate.

The diff housing in an MT2 was not designed to use a gasket, therefore if you put one in it will affect the gear mesh and you will have problems with the final gear set stripping.

If you use the HPI heavy diff grease you are wasting your time, the effect is so minimal you will not notice any difference (trust me I used it and it made no difference at all). I used Permatex® Ultra Black gasket maker to seal the diff housing and the diff oil made for my Kyosho 1/8th buggy. It works great with no leaks.

HPI makes a spring kit that works pretty good but can cause the diff housing to wear prematurely because it puts pressure on the outer spider gears against the plastic housing.

Here is a link to the Gasket maker I used.
http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...sket_Maker.htm

PS: It's also good for sealing engines as well.

Yep that is what we have been talking about the springs for the diffs! Look back one page.

ok, just currious, what is the likelyhood of breaking a diff gear (in the kit) if I am running like an OS .18 on 20% fuel?????
