backups what did you use for the light bar? Is it just the lights from the bumper? Do you have any pictures of how you wired the brake light switch?
Thanks

they love it ! i was worried about that from the start but i'm running HD final drives from a RS4 for a higher top speed and it has less teeth so they don't wear like the mt2 stock diffs. i don't baby this car at all i just come in from breaking the wheel off at the hex pin hole ! i just replaced the axle so the broke axle had the part i broke so !!!!freebie!!!!! on this one. with this much power i don't have to hang the truck out to get performance. this is the second bigblock the first was the K4.6 it was nice also but the topend on the LRP is alot better thanks for the link i'll check it out now !

So do the rs4 gears fit right into the mt2 housing? Do you still use the mt2 diff cup(inner) and the mt2 bevel gears?

there the same diff cases. i'm going to build a set in the alloy case's when i get some extra money i never figured these trucks to be this much fun ! my second gear it shifting consistantly now and i'm killin everything i race. my buddy called a guy he works with and he was here in 10 mins to race me with a os .18 eb modded jato and i let the guy leave first and i still won by a huge margin long run/short run he just didn't have the displacement to win.

well right now yes but i really don't have a dirt area to run which is why most of the cars i build are speed machines !!!
my muggy is built the same way and i'm afraid to go off road with it also so i'm on the hunt for more mt2's or maybe a savage, there tough *******s also and i need something like that to balance my garage. i really haven't wanted to drive anything but my mt2. my jato and revo are chopped liver since i finished the MT2. i figure i would get rid of them and get a savage and another mt2 and i'd be set.

well my truck started as a plan to make a rs4 into a truck with street tires ha ! i was so lame about hpi stuff the only parts that are from that rs4 is the diffs everything else new from tower $$$ so i don't have the numbers . i'm sure the diffs are HD it's the only thing that was good on the car i got on a trade the rest of the car had seen way too much action. the car has seen more than 14 tanks finished now and i'm checking the diffs often to be sure what to get when i build the new one's i figured i would just get all rs4 stuff but i'm sure the cases are the same (stock plastic one's) but i want the alloy case's so they can handle the heat. i have new era arms and they didn't machine a hole for the swaybars anyway so i'll get the gpm's. i just finished a few changes and a new set of brakes now time to really tackle the linkage problem.

i don't think so not any that would hold a bigblock so i'm looking at buggy shocks they are rather pricey 120$ for above stock jammin shocks the stock fronts look to be the size then a spring change for the rear, this still will be more than i want to spend but i need the truck to be stable so i will change them. i'll go with the stock shocks from the jammin i geuss i wonder how the mt2 aluminum upgrades perform ? they are not cheap so i need to know if there any good or not.

I dont have a clue how the hpi shocks are im sure there not too bad I only have the GPM shocks(there sorta ok) nothing really great. If your going to buy shocks I think you should take a look on ebay I bought some traxxas tmaxx big bore shocks for 50 dollars with shipping there were 8 shocks in the package. and by the way man I really like your mt2

Hello all!!

Yes the RS4 gears do fit in the MT2 without any modifications. I am currently running the RS4 18SS hardened gears in an onroad MT I built. I chose these gears because they have a different gear ratio then the MT2 and they are better for top speed.

It's been a while since I posted, been too busy raising two boys and working but I recently got a chance to run my onroad MT truck and would like to share some info I discovered

I just came across the answer to the striped gear problems with all the MT and RS4 cars and trucks. I don't know if this was post or discussed on here since I haven't really been on here in a long time. They are finally making Graphite gear cases which are very brittle and will not flex like the stock HPI plastic gear cases. This is the alternative to buying the aluminum gear case which are much heavier. I just purchased 2 sets off Ebay for $17.75 + shipping for both my trucks.

I was planning to replace the OS .18 CV-r with an OS .18 TZ in my onroad project to get ridiculous speed but was holding back with anticipation of striped gears. Know that I ordered the graphite gear case set I am going forward with the swap. I have a 2-speed trans geared very for top speed but the CV-r has a lot of trouble pushing the truck once it hits 2nd gear. With the TZ I don't think I will have that problem.

Once I have the project completed I will post videos. It is really fast already just in 1st gear but once it shifts to 2nd it dies down.

Well I hope this find will help anyone having problems with stripped gears.

Good luck all.

Joebaby35 you said the 18 ss rs4 gears fit right inside the nitro mt diff case>but why would i use those when there the same number of teeth as gears on the mt`s, 13\38 where as the nitro rs4 evo has 14\36 gears. Now that a difference BUT will they fit ?I mean, let me just post the gears i thought you could use cause yall confusing me.oh by the way do you big block guys have problems breaking the shaft on the slipper clutch cause my picco outlaw did break two but this time im going to glue it to the spur gear so it does not have any play in it.

HAHA there is no slipper when you go two speed ! slipper all gone ! and the trottle becomes your slipper that's why they suggest you cut down on the off road stuff when you install the two speed ! the car diffs and truck diff cases are the same . so the gears will fit. and yes i know the heat distortion is the cause of the diffs stripping but you will still need to take great care when building them, because improperly shimmed diff make heat so i'm waitting to get all my parts assembly dry check the lash and then add the diff jelly.

I purchase the 14t/36t-hardened gears from an RS4 18ss kit on Ebay, which gave me more top end speed.

Just for the record all the final gears and gear cases are interchangeable on all RS4 RTR/RS4 EVO/RS4 18SS/RS4 MT RTR/RS4 Racer/MT2 RTR/MT2 18SS!!!

And of course anytime you build a gearbox they will have to be shimmed properly for correct gear mesh.

What are the best shocks you can get for the rear? I have the GPM shocks and they dont really work good the rear just bounces around when I go over even the smallest bumps.

And about the diffs is it bad if there is just a slight bit of bind? I put mine togher and you can feel the teeth meshing when I turn the pinnion gear
