As far as fuel it really depends on the brand in my opinion. I was running the crappy 33% nitro from traxxas in my Jato and I switched to 30% nitro from Maxys Fuels and boy did my motor wake up. 30% will not hurt the motor and you will increase your performance a little. Just make sure to retune.

o'donnells very good and byrons are the only fuels i use, i use 20% odonnells and/or 30% byrons. But i dont run 30% all the time as it does ware your engine down faster, now they are recomending we use 25% instead of 30% and mainly in race modded or turbo engines.

Just thought that I would throw an update in here. Got everything cleaned out and put back together minus the motor. I went and got my carb yesterday and need to get a 5mm socket to get the carb off the motor later today. Once I do that I will pull out the carb and replace everything. After that I should be good to go! It might rain later so probably won't get to try and start it until tomorrow but oh well. Let me say though, after pulling this thing apart and cleaning everything, it looks amazing. It looks so much better now that everything is cleaned off and looking good. Can't wait to get everything back together and up and running. Thanks for all the help.

Well some good news and some bad news. I got everything fixed up last night and went out to test. I got it to start but it wouldn't idle at all. I made some adjustments and realized I forgot to set the idle screw fully. I fixed that and it fired up instantly and sat and idled for about ten seconds, I hit the gas and it went off for about ten feet and stalled. The whole night it would start right up idle and when I hit the gas it would stall. I couldn't figure out why. I got it a few times to just drive around very slowly in circles but when I gave it more gas it stalled. I am starting to think the motor just doesn't have enough compression. Any thoughts? The glow plug could be bad also its pretty old.

It could be compression but it could also be the LSN is set rich. Try to lean it a bit and see how it runs.

What would cause the ez-start to just spin without the motor spinning? I have this problem. It spins the motor most of the time. But every so often the ez-start just spins and the motor does not. Also does the trx 2.5 require a long glow plug? Because I bought medium length glow plugs and it doesn't seem like they are working very well. I'm still working on getting it started tonight.

pconn5- first the ez- start problem is the one way bearing starting to go sometimes if you take it out dry it and lube it with wheel bearing grease that may prolong it. As far as the glow plug goes i don't know cause i always change my plug to (O.S. 8 )plugs.

Thanks, yea I kind of figured that was the problem but was just checking. It turned the motor over fine the second time I went out to try and start the engine. This time though the engine would not start at all. I could here it firing and it would run for maybe a couple of seconds but then it would just die. A couple of times I had it started but when I hit the gas it just dies out. I tried leaning out the lsn and still nothing. Im having a strong feeling my engine is dead, but the fact that it was idleing the first time I tried to start it makes me think a little otherwise. Im kind of at a loss as to what to try now.

It was at factory settings. At factory settings it would start and idle for a good amount of time then it would stall when I hit the gas. I got it to drive slowly for about 10 sec then it stalled again. Tried leaning from there and it didn't really help. Richened and it also didn't help. Checked the fuel system and fuel is flowing out of the line fine. A couple times when it started I had fuel spitting out the exhaust. I know this means it is rich so I leaned it out. It still did it though even after getting the hsn and lsn down pretty lean. It also seemed like there were bubbles forming around the glow plug.

I'm working on a buddies T-Maxx that was also bubbling around the glo plug. It would also shut off at full throttle. I found that it was missing the brass washer that goes around the glo plug and was not making a complete seal. Male sure it has the brass washer and that it is not warped.
