RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-
OK i got my jato running pretty good, tuned pretty good, no smoking anymore good blue trail of smoke. Right after i run out of gas i refuel and go to start it up again and it wont start. This always happens no matter what. I don't know why it wont start that second time. I think the battery in my ez start may have been a little low. But it started it up the first time pretty quick. Also i never got a new glow plug for awhile. i changed it once and thats it might need to change that too.

try putting your finger over the hole in the pipe as you try and start it to help prime the carb. i have to do that once in a while to get mine started.

I tried that but it still didn't want to start. I always try to refuel before it runs out of gas but i always wait to long then it runs out. will that cause it to make it hard to start the second time because it starts to run really lean???

i brought my car to hobby town and they tuned it pretty good. my car has been runing great! but yesturday i drove it a long time and towards the end it started to just shut off if i let go of the throttle. and the idle speed is very fast. do i need to ajust the idle on the car. the car will drive forward in idle. what do i need to do? o ya today it did the same thing when i drove it. right now its dirty if that would do anything.
thanks

Those of you who know me ... know I got a jato roller as part of a trade a while back ago. We'll I finally re-built it.
Here is how it looked when I got it:
I completley striped it apart and rebuilt it. Very fun project. I love doing that!!! Only thing left that I need to pick up for it is the front Blue RPM A-arms... Well and clean it up agian
Now it is powered by a TRX 3.3 paired with a Novarossi pipe. My other Jato which I have had since Jatos came out... is running a RB V.12 with the dual chamber Resonator ROAR pipe. Both have the TRX lightweight 7075-T6 Aluminum chassis.
Jato w/3.3:

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-
I am considering buying the jato for christmas, and am wondering if there are any problems i would need to look out for.
i alreadt have a nitro boat, so i know enough about engines, but is there any structual problems, reinforcements i would need to use?
i have some 30% nitro for my boat, would it be good to use it for break in?? i did w/ boats motor and there was no problems.

I love my jato and would recommend it. The only problems I have had is the chassis top plate. I have broken that a few times. Also, the electronics aren't that great.
R_man Nice job on the rebuild! Do you paint the bodies yourself?

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-
thanks guys! Yeah I paint my own bodies. I love that part of it. My American theam body has seen better days. It is starting to get beat up. I am going to paint a Texas flag body soon I think.... I need something good for Nitro Maddness down at RCP.
as for the top plate issue. I got the TRX upgrade chassis and have not broken any since. I put one on my re-built Jato also
you can check out my web site to see a bunch of other paint jobs I have done...

would you recommend the 3.3 or 2.5. im wanting to save money so a 2.5 should be good for that, but then again i still have that craving for power and also like the 3.3.
they both get the same speeds right??

2.5 is set up more for off road. 3.3 is more for on-road. But both can be used for either. with either you will need to get new tires. stock ones are not all that good.
3.3 is faster - comes with sway bars a better pipe and so on. good bit more for the price.

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-
although these are stadium trucks, are they capable of running on grass? not that soft grass found up north but the rough, dry sawgrass found down here in florida.
i would go with the 2.5 then. less costly and slow, but it would be my first nitro truck. and um... how much slower is the 2.5, i know the 3.3 does over 55mph, but does the 2.5 run fast too??
