The engine if broken in and tuned properly should last between 10-15 gallons. Atleast mine did. About 14. Then a new piston and sleeve i am yet to install.

Range is never a consistent thing because of terrain and lots of other factors. The best thing to do to prevent loss of control is to just turn on the electronics and set the car down. Then slowly walk away while turning the wheels. How far do you really want to drive it though. It will go pretty much as far as you can see it, and by then what fun is it anyway. So range in my opinion is not a problem. If you wanted more you could get a FM or 2.4gh radio for pretty cheap and not ever have to worry. And about frying the engine. It is ALL the users fault if you fry an engine. If you treat it nicely it will treat you nicely in return. There are a few cases in where something can happen but most of the time it is the user.[sm=redface.gif]

you know what would be a good idea? ( ok,maybe not so good )
on the flywheel or some moving engine part install small auxiliary generator that will provide emergency power to the reciver.
when the battery goes under operating minimum the reciver is taking power from the generator.
generator shoud be operating in middle engine rpm.
generator operating rpm could be adjusted to your taste with resistors.
when the generator is operating on the engine high rpm admeasure the voltage an then with the resistors adjust voltage to your reciver voltage requirements.
for generator could be used small 3V DC engine or something stronger.
there is more details about this idea but this in never been tested by me and im not so sure that this will work.

That is a good idea but its not feezable because of the electronics involved in makeing something that would charge and withstand the beating one of those trucks takes. Also in the size factor it would be hard to get amps to put a charge on a battery...........they have generating systems for planes that will sustain a charge or prolong it but not really charge it. Coming up with a 5000 maH battery would be more like it.....................take 2 or 3 months to run down that battery.......lol

would it be a smart move to buy direct port nitrous injection system.
price is 250-300$ with full equipment for installing (good air filter,30 NOS refillings bottles and injection system)
that is lot of money so i want to be fully informed from someone who have this system or at least saw it in action.
what are improvements to the engine preformance?

nitrous will just kill the engine prematurely. invest in a better engine to get more power.

Only thing thats really got more power and isn't all that much better in a OS .18tz for that particular group of engines but now you get into some of those sweet .12's you have a wide open field[:-]

so an alternator? Ya that would be more pain than its worth. Just quit running when you feel the car start to lose throttle responce. Or get a failsafe. Just my 2 cants.

Give me an application because there are a lot of reasons to change.........on the street I always run heavy oil front and back and stiff springs because the lean can cause roll over and that darn cement, stone or pavement is hard. I would be suprised if any of those green devils weren't after you if you ran on the open dirt ground........lol[] They used to protest us golfers in Europe for making green deserts[&o]

You won't get enough wear on the tires by breaking it in to even notice

Powder dirt with a hard base use a 10 or 20 wt in the front and 40+ in the back and if the steering grabs to much work your way up in equal wt's front and rear..................there will be about an 80% chance you will be close to perfect at those diffferences unless your doing a lot of jumping and then you only want about 10 points between the WT's..........thats as close as I can come without being there unless you can show me some vidio

Thats what I run in with my ST's is hard pan with powder on top and yes I've tested it for a couple of years now.....still learning[&o] go a little higher in the front or go to a medium spring.........one or the other........stock springs and 20wt will make the front end drag a bit hard[:-]

well then ill go with 35in the front and 45in the back, the reason why i want to change the shockoil is cause i think that the stock stuff sucks... if i compare it to associated or losi it reacts kinda different - unnormal

are you using the stock springs ?

Your gonna want lighter in the rear and stiffer up front.
