I'm buying the OS .18 CV-R

which of these models will fit my Evader? Do I need the short shaft model? Will I need a new header as well?

And does anyone else think the DTX 18 is a paperweight? After about 12 tanks I couldn't even start the stupid thing. What a waste.

The instructions for break-in are far too lean, and people rip their engines up before they're even broken in. You think they would have fixed that by now.

You need option two. I bought one for my rustler, then found out i needed the shortened crankshaft...DOH...just to make sure thats the right one, heres the manufacturer stock number: 11880 You will need the OS .18 CV-RX 11J. Hope this helps, got all this info directly from the box my engine came in.

Okay, I'll ask the guys at hobbytown tomorrow when I pick up the engine. Hopefully the price is comparable to Tower prices. I noticed I got ripped off when I bought my RTR for 341.00 =[

Should have done my research.

Man, I ahte this. Around me, the cv-rx I wanted to buy is on back order. The only place that has one is hobbytown but they are selling it for 169.99 and I can buy from another place on back order for 99.99. This sucks.

Yup, I called hobbytown today and they were sold out of cv-rx, but they put one on order for me. The price is $129, should be here thursday.

$129? I got mine from HobbyTown for 99 bucks. I didn't know that they had different prices across their stores...

Well I went ahead and ordered from tower, but it is on back order so I don't know when I'll get it. It was 20 bucks cheaper (even with shipping) than going through my local vendors who all wanted to sell it for at least $129

Aluminum gear and carbide balls. I also used a losi thrust bearing that had larger carbid balls than stock, worked smoother. I don't have a part number atm but i think i posted it in the official nitro evader thread somewhere.

Awesome, thanks for the tips. I'll order that tonight.

Anything else you'd suggest for someone with a little cash to toss around on this beast?

For anyone who cares, I got my O.S. .18 CV-RX. You can get some good deals at [link=http://www.acehardwarehobbies.com]Ace Hardware Hobbies[/link]www.acehardwarehobbies.com

My order at tower was backordered and ran me $117 plus shipping so I cancelled it.

This was a much better option. They don't charge flat expensive shipping rates, it was cheaper and no backorder.

Product(s)
1 x O.S. .18 CV-RX w/11J Rotary Carb 0% $99.99

Sub-Total: $99.99
Tax: $0.00
USPS Priority Mail - 1 lbs.: $3.85
Total: $103.84

A receiver [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHBZ9&P=ML]hump pack[/link] and charger if you don't have one.

If you're looking to make your truck tougher, i think [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGDG8&P=7]these steering knuckles[/link] or [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBDK4&P=7]these[/link] will help.
For the rear go with [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBDK4&P=7]these hubs[/link] or [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGDG6&P=7]these ones[/link]. The golden horizons ones look a little lighter.

I found that i busted hubs and steering knuckles when i was abusing my truck. They would be my first aluminum upgrades if any.
