Best Technique to Turn Car off Fast
Now that my RC10GT doesn't stall out anymore when you leave it at idle for 10 seconds or so, what's the best way for me to turn it off quickly? Noob question but I never really needed to turn it off in the past, just let it run out of gas. Thanks!

if i dont run it out of gas, i put my finger over the exhoust pipe hole, some people take out the air filter and cover the intake.

Either cover the exhaust or pinch the fuel line. I suggest not removing the air filter while it's running, good way to suck dirt into the engine.

and the stoping of the flywheel
and the stoping of the flywheel
That's one thing i like about my Savage. HPI made a stop for it that presses against the flywheel.

as long as your not moving and its not too dusty, than taking off the air filter is plausible, but youd have to be extremely carefull none the less. just think about aircraft, most people never run airfilters on those.

no way, put your finger on the flywheel, but u will later need to run the tank dry, but if the radio screws up or u just broke something u can fix finger on flywheel all the way.

Thumb on the flywheel. With the engine at idle you hardly feel it. In a runaway situation always plug the exhaust. You don't want to suddenly stop the engine by using a stick or shoe, that's just as bad as running it out of fuel. Flip it over so the wheels on the ground control the over-rev and plug the exhaust.

just put your finger over the stinger (exhaust) its that simple....
also make sure your piston is at BDC ----at the bottom so when it cools it isnt at the top of the sleeve, this will save life on your mill

the jato comes with a little plastic thing on the fuel line that you can pinch and latch, im sure it could fit any gas line, id imagine so anyway, i'm not sure where you can get one, but someplace must sell them.

Why would you want to pinch the fuel line? It makes the engine run lean and that can cause a high amount of damage to the engine.

here it is- http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXKMF8&P=7
and i dont think stopping a motor by pinching the fuel line is going to do any damage. your talking 5sec at the MOST . still the easiest way is to put your finger over the stinger or use one of these- kwik stop

i dont see why anyone would buy something to stop the engine with or take the time to take the body off to get to the fuel lines or anything like that. just put your finger on the stinger. it doesnt need to be any more complicated.

Pinching the fuel line to kill the engine is not going to harm it nearly as much as running the tank dry, and I think we all do that on a regular basis. What do you think you are doing when you run the engine dry at the end of the day?
Pluging the stinger to kill it is not going to flood the engine with fuel. Its at idle right? How much fuel do you think can pass in that short time? If you have trouble doing this you need to seal up some exhaust leaks.
On a 1/0th scale with a wide flywheel touching the flywheel, AT IDLE, stops it quick. I don't recommend this on an 1/8th scale or even a 1/10th scale with narrow flywheel. And never at an engine speed above idle unless you like loosing your fingerprints.
Taking off the air filter to cover the intake is not a good idea because of dirt entry, even if its an onroad vehicle running on a clean lot.

In the duratrax dvd i got with my car it says you should pinch the fuel line.
But if you do this you have to re-prime the motor befor it will start again as it runs the motor dry.
Stopping the fly-wheel works well but i'm not to happy about doing it.
