you know, these are the same 2 trucks im debating between, and after alot of research ive found that the mt2 looks like more fun. especially since 45 mph is plenty fast and 60mph is a little too fast and is really wasted money for that speed because you dont need to go taht fast

you know what? i was debating between these two also at one point. i got the mt 2 for the 4wd, if i want to make it rear wheel i can always take the front drive shaft out. i might take out the rear drive shaft and make it front wheel drive for a day. never seen a front wheel drive ST.

kinda cool but the novelty wears out fast... chances are your truck will become FWD without you even knowing it when the rear diff takes a dump

The MT2 requires the aluminum diff cases and the hardened gears to run near maintenance free. You should get all aluminum hubs too. Just shim the diff. The 18ss engine wore out fast on me.

I will say a stock RTR MT2 is possibly the worst car to buy. The tranny MUST be upgraded.

Get the jato, if you don't think you can handle the MT2.

I never put the stock engine in my MT2/SS, I went from the start with the .18 CR-RX in the truck. To date I have not had any problems with anything to do with the drivetrain, this has been running since October in all environments... the only thing I've broke on the MT2 is a front bumper, this truck has run into/over everything including a freightliner, sideswipe of a peterbilt and also a trailer.. the thing is pretty much indestructible..

the stock MT2 kit does come with the hardened gears already..

you gotta face the facts. the jato is good if you wanted get started of the get go and some insane speeds.
and the mt2 is the way to go if you want a longer lasting better bashing truck.
i was also torn between the two but i bought the mt2 because i already have servos, receiver(and maybe a o.s. 18. tz) and i couldn't help but get addicted to the four wheel drive.
but the thing you need to decide is if you want instant gratification or the feeling of accomplishment.

I'm one of the many that voted MT2.

But now after reading what you are getting, welcome to the XTM family

Jato, I broke one in esterday with my neighbor and it popped a wheelie when it kicked into second. I was awstruck, I want one of these now. You will be amazed by the speed of this thing, just watch it go flying past you then switch gears and keep accelerating....mmmmm. The 2.5 is a lil' finicky to tune but nothing a non-newbie can't handle.
