I doubt a guy from a well know R/C magazine doesnt know how to tune an engine. I hear the thunder tiger is one of the easieset to tune?

So both of you guys have only had it into second but claim it can do 70mph. Hmmm sounds like you 2 are just plain bigging up your truck. LOL. Good on you.

Sounds like you 2 have you engines tunned wrong. i read with 30% nitro you can hit top of third in about 30 meters.

Bro , i have only hit 3rd gear maybe twice and the truck , i wish i had a radar to set the BS straight ! I have seen 60mph in a jato and i honestly feel the menace tuned right could take it. At the LHS this weekend a jato owner was watching me tune my menace to show some people what the truck could do and he was even as well impressed. Traxxas in no means inferior and i dont knock anyone else's products. But like i said , even the jato owner told me he was impressed with Schumacher !

Weather has to be right to hit 70 mph. Humidity has to be in the low 60-70 % range. Temperature has to be in the 70 degree range and motor has to be set right. I have been in 3rd gear once and its on the edge of outta control.

20% is what schumacher says in manual. Never higher than 25%

There is only one place where i live that 3rd is possible. If you understood the thunder tiger engine and 3 speed tranny, you might realize how this is not as easy as one might think to achieve.

i have finally decided to stop buying plastic and upgrade everything to alloy wether its broke or not. am still awaiting the odd pieces. but was also wandering is it possible to have a stronger shell preferably one made from alloy. as i find all the normal shells split and crack

Well, just found this menace thread and thought I would say hello.

I've had my menace for about a year, but didn't use it for about 10 months, just recently started playing with it again. I don't believe I've ever gotten it into third gear. I raced my cousins 3.3 Jato and we were pretty even.

I have broken something everytime that I've been out with the menace which is a bit frustrating, but I'm using it as an opportunity to upgrade to alloy parts. The Menace was my first nitro truck and was probably way too fast for me. I should have started with something slower.
I love this truck and hopefully will never get rid of it.

Does anyone have a link to the schumacher drill? I have searched their website but can't find it.

thanks.

Do you still have your manual?
If not, go to the schumacher site and you can download it there. On one of the pages they show a small exploded engine.

Hi Guys,

New to the forum,
I dont have a Menace but do have a XTR, its a bit of a handful but great fun especially on tarmac.

I decided to make a twin engine truck, was originally planning on basing it on a XTR but, Im hoping to be able to get hold of a second hand Menace rolling chassis and use that instead as all the drivetrain is there then just a matter of moving the radio gear and tank to make space for the second engine.

Just a matter of time untill one comes up on ebay hopefully!

Any that my plan on how to get more power!!

When the project gets started ill be making all plans and drawings available for anyone else that might want to do the same.

Cheers
