Some company should make a hobby grade snowmobile rc...that would be awesome. Tamiya would probably be the best candidate as they're still creating wacky rc's with success.

How about one of these:

Hey man, we go to steamboat every year. I have been skiin since i was like 6 and I have been snowboardin for about 4 years. We'll be comin this year, probably around january, (then i'll be stuck at snowy-range practicin once a month with friends). (kinda cool talkin to one of the locals) But anyways Im waitin for some snow here in the panhandle of nebraska, we did have a little about a week ago, but it didnt last long so i didnt have time to get out my car. (PS, another thing, tower is out of traxxas glow plugs and this has got me irked[:@])

RE: SNOOOOOOWWW!!!
I am building a Front and side plow out of old computer aluminum. Especially the thin but very strong power supply case. (being a computer geek has it's benifits) The side plow is going to be tricky but should prove to be fun. and I have been thinking and putting on paper a Snowmobile pulled trail groomer for my Art Attack. servo controlled via 3rd channel with trims. Still playing with the schematics. I am going to need a small cnc milling machine to make the parts but i hope I can find one on ebay.

Well, got my chains finished and re-sealed the radio box, so i just have to button up the battery box (mounted on top of the radio box lid now), and i'll be all set for winter.
P.S. cost me 8 bucks for 8 feet of chain (CAD), and i had about 2 feet left over, so your estimates were right on MD.

RE: SNOOOOOOWWW!!!
ok, i have seen this on Monster Garage b4, and i dont know why this wouldn't work on an rc, it should be actully easier. Get roofing nails and then grind them down Alot. make them really pointy and then open up a tire. Push them in a zig zagged pattern about 1-1/2 an inch away from each other in a zig zagged paattern. The nail if right should be sticking out of the tire only bout a 1/8 of an inch. Take a bottle of silicon and put it around the nail on the inside of the tire. Put the foam on and then put the tire on. This should get you pleanty of grip. Note: I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS BEFORE. THIS IS JUST AN IDEA BUT I AM SURE IT WILL WORK. YOU SHOULD ALSO TRY THIS ON A SPARE TIRES. IM IN CHINA SO I CAN'T TRY IT, SORRY.
Dan
Hope this helped

well, NR, you gave me an idea. ok, you didn't give me the idea, i've had it for a while, you just made me want to do it. I'm in the process of making them. I only have one mocked up, and it's pretty crude for now. it's also huge, you'll see in the pics:

RE: SNOOOOOOWWW!!!
I'm still a little stumped as to how to attach the two pieces. i have some long screws holding them together for now (as you can see in the pics), but those won't hold them together under heavy use, and will slow me down due to the screw sticking out on the bottom. if anyone has any ideas for that, i would be happy to entertain them. Welding is out of the question, although that would be the best option.

RE: SNOOOOOOWWW!!!
as for sticky just spray it down with like WD-40 and the screw, find a smaller one if thats and option, or sand it down? but i really dont think its a problem if you use it in like powder, which is what you made those for right?

Take a closer look at the second pic tho, i need something that won't add so much drag like that screw would on the rear of the ski, under the horizontal plate
