sure, you have to almost every time....I give all my trucks a quick tune before I start to run them, everything effects them, humidity, temp....you might find a sweet spot that gives a pretty good tune all the time in that spot, but you could be running too lean or rich...it only takes a second, even if its a major pain everytime, its the difference in life span of the motor...

Well I got my firestorm yesterday. I got it all broken in, and on the third tank of break in the brake disc broke in half! So, I glued it back together with some CA glue and that was fixed for now. So I go run it for the fourth tank and i proceed to run it. After about 2 minutes the car stops moving and just revs. So as I am mad, I pull apart the tranny and the diff and find that one of the gears have been broken into many pieces. I am still satisfied with how it drove, but mad at what broke.

ive skimmed the thread and looked at a lot of sites that contain info on this truck. Can someone compare this to the Jato. all around, accleration, top speed, handling? Whats the top speed of the firestorm? we run a very large asphalt oval and then sometimes just bash with the trucks.

I have raced against a few jatos, or should I say started to race against them before they were taken back to the pit....they suck on dirt, but not sure on asphalt...but this is my personal experience....

and please check out the specs for the trucks, go to the manuf websites and look...not trying to be a dick but I hate when people ask this, of course we are going to say get a firestorm, the same goes for the jato thread....compare the good to bad threads on each truck....

JATO SUCKS, BUY A FIRESTORM AND BURN THERE *****[>:]

Thought I would say hi and join in the Firestorm love fest!

Had mine about two months with no major issues, only thing was the bulk head snapped and the top plate of the chassie bent after the little begger got away when the hump pack came loose. Anyway that insited a new carbon fiber chassis so not all bad.

Apart from that little error, LOVE IT!! Fast, responcice, fantastic handleing, easy to work on and an excuse to get away from the misses when there is washing to be done, what more could you want???

Good to see ther is alot of interest on here for it. Even HPI's forum doesnt have this much. Plus some great tips, especially like moving the hump pack to the front.

Quick question about clutch bell tooth numbers, what differance does higher and lower numbers make?? I am guessing its accelleration vs top speed, but what produces what.

Someone asked what you guys what you use to tune your LSN. I've been using a bent paper clip to do it but its a real pain. Anybody have any easy solutions to this?

I have a 90 degree screw driver for this, pretty common in most diy stores, it has one end at 90 degrees to the handle and one end alo0ng the same line as the handle. saves removing the engine.

I got one of these and it still wouldn't fit. I just ended up using a straight flat headed screw driver and used the tip to push on the groove of the lsn at an angle.

After 12 tanks and some seriously good bashing at the local BMX track she is still running great. The only thing that has gone wrong was the exhaust bolts came loose allowing the manifold to come loose. New gastket and bolts and we are off again. This is after complete tear down, clean, and rebuild.
