Do you know by chance what shock weight oil came with the firestorm?
I just re filled mine with 30wt silicone. Seems good in back. But maybe a tad stiff up front. Seems one of my rears already feels springy after a few tanks. Must be leaking. Just get some new o rings I suppose?

All new Boca bearings, even in the axial, bought some integy piggy backs, horrible waste of money, 3peice clutch, pro line gladiators, I bought a new main chassis, gotta get the motor mount slots lengthened so I can mount it, 18t/49t gears what do you guys think? what gear ratio should I do?

Nice work. If you are putting a big block in you should go to mod1 gearing to access taller ratios. There are a few mods here around page 180-200 that did it. If not, put the biggest pinion on you can since it will likely never be overgeared with that much power (although the car will be significantly heavier than stock). I recommend, since you are obviously going big with this build, to go to high voltage servos and battery and good aftermarket shocks. Proline powerstroke shocks with different (single stage, dump the double springs) shocks work great on the storm. You will need stiffer springs to counter the weight.

thanks,iv been trying to find more info about 2 or 3 speed conversions but it'll be a while befor I can even buy the stuff I'd need for that, but ill take a look at the mod1 conv. If that's pretty easy/ cheap ill go with that , I'm did buy 2 savox sw 0231mg waterproof servos and they came with racers edge glitch busters, but I have to work with either the stock 2 channel 2.4 radio/receiver or Futaba attack 2 channel am 75 for now, and I don't really know about the electronics to much , in the future sometime I will be upgrading that to something a little advanced, I also got a venom 6v 1600mah hump battery, but I probably shoulda got something a little better huh?, I was in between pro line powerstokes and traxxas big bore, what springs you think I should get? I put 900cst oil in the stock shocks but I don't even know if that's thick or not, it looks thick somewhat, I'm used to 25wt,30wt,ect. But heres some other pics of it ,my storm is lookin better and better

900 is very high, 500 is 32.5 (its not a linear scale) my guess is its over 60 or so. The springs that come with the powerstrokes are probably fine, getting a tuning kit of springs is overkill. If you to be on the stiffer side, Team Durango has spring sets that are a good price and they have a much wider range of rates, including very stiff, compared to other brands. The losi spring kit is on the softer side but its a good value too.
The battery is fine. When you get the high voltage servos in there eventually go to a lipo and it you will get great servo performance.

What's a good high voltage servo? And I guess that's good, rather it be too thick than too thin lol,i will be going with the powerstrokes just bc I like pro line stuff, they look a little cooler than the big bores in my opinion, but another thing I wanted to ask you rob was, well when I broke in my axial for the first time ,I didn't think I did it very well, but I put new bocce bearings in and put it back together as best as I could, its hasn't been started yet, hopefully it will,i think it will, but I'm not very savvy with these nitro motors to be honest, i DO know alot of things about them and how to go about certain things, but I just wanted to break it in the most professional manner, but I figure that its too late for that now, so what should I do when I go to start it for the first time with the new bearings??

No problem. Its been a while since I've had a nitro firestorm but I keep an eye on the thread. The best thing to do for any nitro engine is pre-heat it. I use a competition heat. Heats the head to 200F. There is another brand of head heater out there as well, can't remember their name but you can also use a heat guy and aluminum foil to cup the heat/protect the car. This will keep things loose and reduce wear. Heat-cycle break ins are the best for long engine life. You also get the engine up to temp right away and can tune it faster instead of the tune changing as it warms and loosens up.
Tons of great servos out there, Savox 1257 servos are a great price and used in a lot of race applications. Otherwise there are a ton of good options, it depends on what you want to spend.

The cage and engine mounts and few other things were from Newera Models. I don't know if they are in business or making firestorm parts anymore. The blitz roll cage won't work on a firestorm because the chassis is longer on the blitz. Do you mean the engine above on this page (Axial .28 or .32) or mine which was an OS .21 VG, it wasn't a great engine but it was more than enough for the little firestorm.

The stock engine is good and runs well. The os .18 CV-R is a good engine that will have slightly more power and tune like a dream. I run it in an RS4 and wish I had it in my firstorm when I had it instead of going to the big block.

That looks like it. A great tuning engine. You need the one with the standard shaft, not the short shaft. It is noticeably easier to tune and has more power but its not over the top. The best upgrade you will do. There aren't many good .18's out there now.

I have not mounted one in a firestorm, look back to the first 100 pages to nitro nates tips to mount the motor. I think he did more than he had to and you can just use shims or washers to set the height. Its not a direct drop in but it goes in easily with some work. This is makign me want to take my engine out of my RS4 and put it in a firestorm.

I wouldn't go aluminum - its heavy and doesn't do much for the car, you are better off getting upgraded RPM plastic all around which includes the arms and hubs. You will be way happier with the durability going that way instead. There really isn't any good aluminum out there for it anyways, just the lower end stuff that looks good but gets loose and sloppy quick.
Aluminum shocks, however, are worthwhile. Getting a set from any of the other brand stadium trucks out there, losi, AE, etc... and their aftermarket is the way to go there. Proline powerstrokes are okay but overall a second tier shock compared to what I just mentioned.
