RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Hello Everybody,
I'm new to this thread, I've got the firestorm with the lurid green hpi shell on it, moabs on rear and dirt hawgs on front, 21 tooth clutch bell, hpi ally polished tuned pipe, racing clutch and i've match ported the exhuast header to the engine, all these tips found on this thread! Thankyou all for your advice!!!! Needless to say it goes like a dingbat (and I'm only using 16% nitro fuel!)
I siezed the engine after one and a half gallons, a lean too far..........muppet! unfortunately the con rod came out in sympathy with the piston and also snapped. Cost to fix was too close to cost of a new engine, so after a little research I used a different engine, I couldn't stretch to the OS's that some people are using, but I did find a Force 18 that looked like it would do the job and at £50 retail it was worth a go, (with the discount i get from my local shop it came out at £45) this made it half the price of the original and £15 less than the cost of repairing mine! So whats it like? It came with a slide carb so i refitted the original carb, and bolted it straight in, no mess, no mods. Why so easy? I compared the engines visually, apart from the slide carb and the sticker on the side, they are IDENTICAL!!!! down to every fin! What a bargain! I ran this one in using the heat cycle method thats recommended here and not how the manual says (which is how I did the original) It is really very good, I can pop wheelies now, I could never do that with the original, could be down to the different break in procedure. But for the money............
So thats the story so far, will post if this engine breaks anytime soon, but its done 3/4 gallon and still pulling like a train.
Here is a pic when the moabs were on all round

nitro rob- i got the shock sets and they'r holding up to the abuse quite well, you might want to use a different shock oil than whats recccomended depending if you race or bash.
just wish i woulda ordered that newera bulkhead brace sooner lol
nitro nate- if you want to keep that firestorm sticker from peeling off your chassis use finger nail hardener, clean the area good then brush it on over the sticker making sure to go past the stickers edge, it should say on the bottle how long to let it dry. ask your gal or mom if they have any or look in the nail polish section of a store

Awsome wheel and tire combo cgad18.Those beadlocks can be a pain to work with while keeping the tire bead from slipping out while your screwing in the screws.Glad to see some up to date Storms!
Thanks for the tip mercerbeef, but that sticker has been stickin' since I bought it.
