Firestorm owners- I need your advice!
I'm most likley getting a firestorm here in the next few months and I want some feedback from those who own or owned one (or if you've just driven it) like- what parts usually break first, how good is the stock engine (on a scale of 1 to 10)? is there anything I should know before I get one? etc. thanks[8D]

having extra glow plugs, spare parts, tools on hand would be a pretty good idea. Most often than not, the included tools are junk, the glow plug dies out after break in, and eventually you break a part.

I'm running o'donnel racing fuel in mine, works great. Engine is very peppy lifts the front wheels with ease. Haven't broken anything yet. Yet being the key word there! I'm also running a hump pack for the reciever and would definately recommend.

Sorry guys but I disagree with the performance of the firestorm,
I sold my ditched for a firestorm and man that was a big mistake,
The firestorm is built with high quality in mind and the car acts as a pro R/C but to get it to perform as the Duratrax, you need a new engine, one with more power to lift it and keep it with the competition, servos, high speed and torque due to the slow and large turning angle. (P.S. this is all compared to the cheaper Duratrax Evarder BX).
I feel that I was mislead with the video posted on youtube for the firestorm.
I sold the Firestorm last night.
I do not post a lot so a lot of you will not know me but I have been into this hobby for a long time.
I currently own
- XTM Mammoth OG
- Schumacher Fusion, racing gears
- Duratrax Evader BX
- Revo 3.3
- Hirobo Shuttle Helicopter
- Still to come next week, Jato 3.3
I hope you guys take my advice and go ahead with the Duratrax. That thing is amazing compared to the Firestorm and cheaper.
Cheers

The firestorm is a great truck! I've probably ran 1/2 gal of 20% through it, and it seems like it is just now getting broken in. It handles almost exactly like my RC10GT did, It pushes in the corners a little, but that is easily compensated for by just tapping the brakes a little before the turns and the front will drop and dig in. Overall I'm very pleased with it, I wanted something to run out in my yard, and maybe take to the track once in a while, I'd race it any day!

Ok I've been checking - RC Planet has the firestorm for $259. As far as parts go I only found what you might need @ HPIracing.com. Now having said that, is it enough to make us go out & buy it? Do you think that hpi has enough parts for what you would need? I'm doing this reseach for my son. rc planet sells them both @ great prices & the starter kit has alot of stuff (Traxxas 3.3 & the firestorm) My lhs doesn't support this firestorm best I can tell.

I'd have to disagree with mammoth the truck handles great and it pulls the front wheels up from any speed, what more power do you need? Maybe he didn't give it a chance? Comparing a buggy to a truck is apples to oranges, BTW.

Did you check www.ultimatehobbies.com? I think it lists there at $219 or some ridiculous price, free shipping too. No one has spares right now, as with most new releases it takes time to get the spares out. I also think they underestimated the success of this truck. Nitro stadium trucks are one of the most popular claases to run around here.

Ultimate must have raised the price, its now $235. But still one heck of a deal with free shipping. As far as a parts supplier I'm sure horizon, or tower hobbies will carry parts soon.
