RC10GT w/ OS .18 CV-R
i just got one of these off a friend of mine..what can i expect from it?
its not running yet, i just have to sort out the electronics. my friend that had it before just broke it in, but didnt really run it..(he sold it to me because he wanted parts for his CD 3)..
anybody care to share any recommendations?, i know its going to be piss ass fast..so will i have to worry about the gearbox and other things?
thanks

RE: RC10GT w/ OS .18 CV-R
There are a couple of threads in here discussing this very subject. You may want to do a search for the specifics, but here is the basic jist of them. You are probably going to burn up the trans and stuff (I, too, have done this swap and have yet to break it in) from what people have said. You can also look forward to increased tire wear and fuel usage (I personally would expect no less); as well as monster wheely action (God, I hope so).
From everything I have read, it seems like this is the top swap for bashers (I am definately one of that group) and for people who love to go fast.
Good luck with your swap; and I'll post up somewhere when I get mine running to let you know what I break.

RE: RC10GT w/ OS .18 CV-R
I did this to mine last year. If its the stock gearing...its not going to go much faster, but it will get up to speed a hell of a lot quicker. It is a wheelie monster, and yes it burns through tires like nothing. I havent had any problem with the tranny yet. Just 2 broken king pins in the axles. The swap is probably compareable to a v8 powered s-10.

I have a rc10gt with a OS 18 cv-r and it flies im using a 17tooth and a 66 and it's mental. Mine does somewhere in the neighbourhood of 35-40 mph if i change the spur gear it will be closer to 40-45.
O.K.

I have a 17 and a 66 on mine too and ive had good response from it. Had it at a 22 67 and it did over 55. was too hard to keep on the road. Had my wife drive, while i sat on the back of the pick up. It was just for kicks though. I wouldnt go that high again. Mine has enough power to pull the wheels up in the mid range power, but it stays nice and level taking off with the 17 66

lol, you guys are the best, i was just about to ask what ratios are u guys using
the thing is, i intend to bash most of the time. so are those ratio's fit for bashing?
(i dont know if ratio is the correct term, but im used to big cars so thats the only word that came to mind [:-] )
from the looks of it, it looks like 17/66 is the way to go

RE: RC10GT w/ OS .18 CV-R
go with 17 and 66 for a good mesh im changing mine to somewhere around 22 -24 and hopefully 54 tooth just to beat my buddy in a straight line but other than that ill have to change it up to bash it.
We clock our cars recently and my buddys car did 70 kph like 38 mph and my car is faster than his with a os 18 cv-r and a 17tooth with a 66 spur gear.
O K

If you have the old tub-style chassis, I'd recommend upgrading to the newer style or you're going to end up blowing spur gears and tweaking the chassis. I run 18/64 and it flies. Never clocked it, but she's fast.

I run a nitro evader with the .18 cv-rx and 15/60 clutchbell/spur. The other night, it was nice and cool out and I hit 42 m.p.h. Next I think im gonnna go with 20/56 and see if I can break 60!!![sm=shades_smile.gif]
