Default OS .18 TZ help

This is to everyone who felt the need, like myself, to throw a OS .18 TZ into their XXX-NT.

My current problem is the collet that is in the assembly with the flywheel. When I was getting it set up, I noticed the collet being real loose, so I asked the LHS. They said it would tighten up when I put the clutch nut on. Well, it did, but not to degree it should have. Now, the flywheel is not on tight enough to start the engine.

So, what size collet are you guys using for this engine?
Also, my flywheel looks fairly bad, so what are you using as a flywheel, are there any real notable flywheels I could throw on there that are good?

Thanks guys,

-Ziggy

I tightened as much as I could. That's even another problem. The collet is big enough to the point that is won't let me tighten or loosen the clutch nut.

You use a piston stopper to remove the nut. There are times when you have to put some shims in to tighten the collet and I shouldn't even mention it because you have to be careful when you do[&o]

What collet are you using? When I put an OS 18 TZ in my HPI MT I use the stock collet. Is your flywheel bottoming out on the bearing if so you are going to have to change the collet to one that is longer. I know when I put the XTM sliding clutch on my Savage I had to try about 4 different collets before I found one that worked properly. Let us know how many drive train parts you break once you get installed and broke in.

I can sure tell you it took me much work to get where my dive train held together on my HPI MT before I could get more the 1 or 1 ½ tanks of fuel run though it. Last time I ran it with more changes I did get 4 or so tanks though it with out messing anything up. It has uncontrollable power and my MT is 4-wheel drive. I had to gear it WAY up to keep the wheels on the ground most of the time. Would run it more but I race my buggy 3 out of 4 weekends and do not have the time.

Is there a collet/flywheel made specifically for the OS18TZ engine or do you always have to use a car specefic one?
