Default gt2 engine trouble

my engine will start and run just fine for a couple of minutes then it seems to lean out no matter how I tune it I suspect an overly dirty air filter any other ideas? thanks

A dirty air filter won`t cause it to lean out , but just the opposite . Sounds like you have an air leak or the piston and sleeve are worn out .

Yup, thats an air leak.

Check your fuel lline, pressure line, look over the exhaust for any cracks. Check to make sure the carb is sealed against the block. It is a simple fix more than likely.

"seems to lean out no matter how I tune it "

This is a good indication of worn piston/sleeve . But you could have a leak on the back plate or the seal on the front bearing is leaking which would cause the issue also .

yeah, and i'm not sure if it's actually leaning out, it;s just reacting very sluggishly and I dont think it's the piston/sleeve because my dad's car is doing it too and his car has probably been run half as long and hard as mine

this could have been caused by runing the car in different weather than you broke it in in. if you break it in in warm weather like 75-80 degrees you can run it in that general area. if thatv isn't the case, than i'm not sure. That happened to me a few times. The first: dirt in carburator. Second: hole in fuel line. Third: exust pipe was melted. see if any of those happened to your car. good luck

The day I went to break mine in I noticed the fuel tank was busted. Hairline crack all the way down the top. Why I didnt knotice this when I was building it...? I dont know.

Just check the thing over good. Replace all the fuel lines, the stuff is cheap and easy to replace anyway. Let us know if you get it working right.
