idle may not be set correctly or the carburator closes completely when you brake?

What radio are you using? I know I have problems with my futaba 6ex it's made for aircraft and when I pull back to brake it's almost like it reverses the servo past idle and closes the carb right off like youwish16 had mentioned. If your using a stock radio I'd go with the idle is to low like youwish16 mentioned. Does the car idle when you first stat it.... Or do you need to control the throttle to keep it running...

I would say look at the clutch. or your idle speed.
