I'm almost back in the game. The Jato is almost done. Looks done but its not completely ready yet.

Yeah man I was having problems like that as well. for me it was the ez-start. Even tho it will light up saying its fireing the plug...It really wasnt. I just took the wire off the plug and use a glow plug igniter and still use the ez-start 2 turn the moter. Also i take the tube off the exhaust pipe and blow into it until I see fuel hit the carb inlit and fire it up. And while ur starting it hold ur finger on the exhaust tip for a few seconds while fireing it up and you should start 2 hear it trying 2 start. Just keep trying and it will fire right up. Hope this helps man. Have fin

Jesus, ajk, you are like heaven on earth. That idea sounds perfect! i've had trouble with the exhaust manifold and stuff so i couldn't prime the engine; i'd never thought of the exhaust line! sheesh. it'll probably start up tomorrow.

Thnx again

Hey everyone,

I haven't noticed much on the forums about the amount of noise Nitro RCs make. I have purchased a Jato this winter and look forward to the spring time, watching many vids on You Tube. I notice alot of people like myself live in the city and the suburbs no less. Do your neighbors not care about the noise the car makes? Also can anyone tell me if there is a noise supressor of some kind that maybe fits on the pipe of a nitro?

Thanks

In the 14 yrs that I have been in this hobby I have never had an issue with my neighbors no matter where I have lived. There is no noise supressor for the pipe. Just stick to the stock pipe of whatever you get and you should be ok. Performance pipes tend to be louder for the most part.

I noticed you posted the question a long time ago asking about the 12tz in the jato. Im sure u have already tested it and I just wanted 2 know how where ur results and what gearing are u running. What kinds of speeds did u get. I have the same engine for my jato but its still in the box cuz its 2 cold 2 try 2 break it in. What starter box you use?

hey guys, i'm having difficult troubles with the brakes again. i've got the carbon fiber ones from integy, but i can't seem to figur out how much i should tighten the pads. too tight, and it seems like after i run it a bit, they heat up so much the truck wont move. too loose, and the truck has no stopping power and the brakes won't heat at all. i simply can't find the right spot, and i'm resorting to tuning by 1/16 turns because it really makes a difference. is idle a factor in tuning? or do u think its something else?

Well with the brakes just 2 let you know if you didnt already...........The breaks on the jato suck bad man. I have trouble with mine as well. to adjust them just press your thumb real hard on the pad until you can see that its making contact with the break disc and turn the screws until it just BEARLY BEARLY touchs the break pad. Once you have that just let it go and it should be good to go. Also you can take the spring off the little bar thing you know where you turn that wheel to adjust break tension? And replace it with some antenna tube. Just cut it the same size as the spring. If it breaks to hard with the antenna tube just unscrew that wheel a little at a time intil you get the breaking you cool with. As far as tuning.......If your having trouble just put it back 2 factory tuning and start all over. The HSN is 4 turns out from closed and the LSN you just have 2 make sure the head of the screw is flush 2 where it screws in to. as for the idel......Just take the air filter off and turn the idel stop screw until you have about a .7mm or a 1.0mm opening check this out it may help

So you did get it 2 start tho I see? So It was the easy start not fireing the plug even tho it lit up?

i've already done the transfer to the handheld igniter; i heard about it either earlier on this forum or another. sometimes the blue cord melts or gets loose on top of the glow plug.

Thnx again 4 the brake advice, i'll try the antenna tube thing.

Finally got my jato 3.3 running. it has been sitting in the garage for about 2 months now. it wouldn't suck fuel through the lines, so I blew out the fuel tank rele hard with an air compressor, then it started right up.

well I just sent my TRX 3.3 and my OS 12 TZ Spec II to ABMODS for the stage 2 mod. Its gonna be a sick jato when Im done with it. I'll get some vids with the TRX 3.3 and with the os 12tz and compare the 2 engines on the same truck so we can all see the difference in both mills. The 12TZ should smoke the TRX for sure but it'll still be fun.

I actually have the Aluminum Brake Arms from GH racing. The plastic one tends to ware out at the pivot pointe no longer providing stopping power. I also placed the tension spring inside a piece of fuel tubing and then adjusted the pads. The brakes lock up every time now. Have not had an issue since.
