RE: Official Traxxas Jato 3.3 Thread
the main reason the jato is not race legal id the 2 speed tranny most tracks have a single speed rule and i agree the jato does pretty good off road all i do is loosen the springs and switch the rear tires to 2.8 tallons and go easy on the throttle

RE: Official Traxxas Jato 3.3 Thread
if you have the 3.3 jato its not a ROAR legal motor. RTR stadium trucks with a 2.5 sized motor can sometimes get away, but the 3.3 is way too much power for most tracks. Also, ROAR rules for stadiums are 2.2 sized tires and single speeed tranny, all the things the Jato does not have. The Jato has a disadvantage when it comes to handling on most offroad courses vs the GT2 and XXX-NT''s, the jato has that center battery compartment that pushes the gas tank, throttle servo, and receiver forward. If you look at the GT2 and XXX-NT you will see their gas tank etc is pushed back. The extra weight the jato has on the front gives it extra steering input, but gives up much needed traction in the rear. Bowties, steppins, and holeshots in the rear are more common race tires with the stadium trucks. Remake the top plate to push everything back, got to a .12 sized motor, 5 degree toe plate in rear, and alot of suspension/shock tweeks and adjustments and you will have a fighting chance if you know how to drive (considering your up against "good GT2/XXX-NT drivers).

RE: Official Traxxas Jato 3.3 Thread
you can race a 3.3 cuz the internal are roar says .12.-18 for stadium trucks... cuz half the people up at my track run os .18tm and such in there rustler and jato can be a good racer and such same thing for a rustler its all about your driving skills.
and the single speed would make your jato race llegal. but it won''t have as much acceleration cuz no more two speed.

RE: Official Traxxas Jato 3.3 Thread
A 3.3 is not a .12-.18, it is a .20. If you ever get a chance to look at some of the things Steven Slayden has done to his Jato to make it competive vs the GT2 and Losi''s you will see what I am talking about. Now of course there are alot of local tracks that really dont care what you run and maynot have the same quality drivers behind the GT2''s and the Losi''s. Alot is driver, but when the drivers are top notch, the Jato starts to show its weaknesses.
