Default RE: Official RC10GT Thread

hey guys, i decided that i want to get rid of the pull starter on my ae.15 rc10gt once and for all. Now, i was looking at some starter boxes to replace the pullstarter and i really could not make up mi mind. Thats when i saw the tigerdrive system, i made some research into it and turns out is not that bad, but i went to my local hobby shop and the guy there told me that i could get the same results without having to buy the tigerdrive sistem just by using the one way bearing nut with and hex extencion and a cordless drill. Now i know im not starting an F1 car here but the cordless drill that i own is a coleman cheap ***** 18v drill. will that drill cut it or should i need to start looking for starter boxes. Am i running some risk of damaging the engine while doing this? Also, im looking to buy the wabash rims with tha road rage tires. Apart from those and the glue of course, do i need to buy adapters for my rc10gt or is just a matter of taking the old ones out and slaping the new ones in?

tnkx

The GT2 looks really good. I want one but since I just "bash" with my gt I won't upgrade. Im waiting on my new ICE so I can charge my reciever pack. I left my old charger at our vacation home[:@] so I can't run my GT or my electrics. Do any racing?

I have the OS 18 TZ in my GT and it's really the best engine i had so far , easy to tune , powerfull and long lasting , i really recommend it as it's a blast in the GT.
All you have to do is to gear much higher to not spend all your time wheelying , i have on my GT at the moment 18/64 and i might get to a 19 clutch bell to get easier low spead handling and more top speed .
And also get a good clutch like this one http://www.ssrcracing.com/team-associated.html
They don't answer mail's from Finland so i had to make my own with my lathe ,as the MIP 4in1 clutch was slipping far too much and getting destroyed after 1/2 gallon , but its a really good idea .
I have also a RRP tranny but i keep up with the plastic spur gear as it does not cost much and it will snap instead of snapping the whole tranny ,i also use RRP clutch bell's as they last so much longer then the AE one's .

i have the mip clutch and i hate it i also run the rrp gears in my tranny from bell to diff my top shaft is old so i tried to get a new one but rrp does not make them any more. the clutch slips even with a .15 motor . i also have a old rrp slipper clutch in my car so i know that is fine but the mip sucks.

let me ask you why is a metal clutch better?

It's very simple plastic or whatever the MIP clutch is made from slip's , but aluminium does not at all and you get a much more crispy answer when you accelerate without that bad feeling that your engine is using power without that power getting to the groundand also the aluminium clutch does not wear out as fast as the MIP one ,1/2 a gallon and the one i made still look's like new.
You can make the experience by yourself , take a piece of plastic and rub it against steel and then do the same with a piece of aluminium and you will make your own opinion .
I also got rid of that stupid E clip on the shaft and put a scew instead ,so no more flying clip's ever again .
Here is a pic of the one i made .

Looks great i will trust your opinion cause i already know the mip slipper is bad. i have been thinking of doing a mod on the gt2 clutch to get it to fit but i will just go metal i believe it would be the best bet.

It should be to have it to lock with the weigts , but i prefer it on the drag side with weigts as in that way when you let go fo the gas the clutch still stays engaged and it gives you some kind of engine brake like in a real car ,so that you can get a little more speed in getting to a corner without having to really brake .
But in order for it not to slip too much i was always dgreasing my clutch bell and sanding the inside , that's help's also quite much.
