I have a OS CV-R .18 in mine and love it. For just bashing around its great. Alittle to much power for the track though. I would find yourself a OS Motor IMO. You can find them at a good price and they are easy to tune.

i'm just looking for a multi-shaft TRX 2.5R because parts are abundant, info/experience are plentiful (there's a dvd!), and the performance/price ratio is fantastic.

and all of ^that^ fits my application perfect. i'm just hoping to have fun on my local dirt track, and do a little racing there too. it seems like it'll have plenty of power to clear the doubles/triples that the better stadium trucks at my track can.

now if only i could find a multi-shaft AND pull start TRX 2.5R that is in stock!!! Perhaps traxxas hasn't released it yet.

Well I finally got to race my NT and didnt do to well. mine still has the JR racing Z270 servos in it and the seem really slow for racing and I would like to know what would servos would be better to replace the stock ones. I was also woundering if these have a tendancy to push through the corners as mine didnt want to turn in the corners, just so you know im totally new to racing and that was my first time doing it even though I spent more times fixing it than racing it, the weak points showed up fast.

Talk to the people at the track and they will help you. Fora servo, try to get something with 100+ torque, metal geared, and at least .15 for steering, and a 80+oz, .10 for throttle or something around there. No pushing problems for me. What front tires do you have, and springs and shock oil? Also what rears and what type of track do you race on?

It still has the stock tires, shocks and orange springs on it, this is the RTR kit, as for what oil is in them I dont know as I have never opened the shocks yet. The track is what they are calling a drivers track no straights to keep speeds down it has a lot of turns, the track is rough and I guess a medium bite, the track got worse after the 1/8 scale classes did there runs as they tore it up more. Im one of only 3 people running in the gas truck class and there running Associated and just ran circles around me while I was jsut tring to keep mine on its tires and not its lid, but that wasnt going to well as I havent learned how to fly it yet so I was nose planting off the jumps most of the time. LOL

ditch the stock tires, they are harder than silver.
losi red directionals up front are the norm, rears find out what the locals were using.

hey guys! I am soon to be the pround owner of my 9th addition to my family... Just scored a XXXNT Adam Drake edition on ebay for 80 bucks shipped. just wondering if this is as awesome a deal as I am thinking it is, and also what everyone's opinion of this version is? to me it looks alot like my Mini DT but bigger with a nitro engine...

Anyways, thoughts opinions, and any other feedback on my new purchase would be great!

here's a link to the ebay listing so you can see it!

That is plastic. If you strip it, you are not rebuilding your diff and tightening it correctly. There is the Robinson racing aluminum diff gear, but I would really suggest you to learn how to set up a diff, then get the aluminum diff gear it is stills strips.

I tightened the diff like it shows in the instructions. I did the hold the right wheel and gear and I cannot turn the left wheel. What else should I check for? This is the second time it has stripped.

you have to keep checking it, they do loosen up as they break in. I've run diff gears for a year unless something major takes them out.... like the tranny case breaking the bearing mount for the compound gear

I ended up getting another plastic diff gear. I think I figured out what caused it this time. I rebuilt the breaks a few days before and I think it was too tight.

How do you properly set the tension on the slipper? I followed the instructions in the manual that say to fully tighten the nut all the way down, then back out three full turns. How do you know what level of tension needs to be on there so that you won't cause dif problems but also aren't slipping all the time and loosing acceleration?

becareful not to use too much diff lube or it will slip, you only need enough to hold the balls in the gear

Default RE: Official XXX-NT Thread!!!

for all you XXX-NT owners that don't check other threads here is my officially finished XXX-NT specs and pics...

Here's what was done after purchasing this vehicle on ebay. I initially bought it for 80.00 under the impression it was the AD or AD2, however when I recieved it I found out it was the XXXNT RTR sport with a racing engine and the AD edition pipe... I had already ordered most of the graphite replacements as I figured it would be good to have spare a-arms, etc. and came to find that there do not fit directly. After finally getting the truck, I was rather dissappointed to find that all I got was a RTR with a race engine and AD pipe, and thus embarked upon creating the truck you see now, which is my own hybrid of sorts combininng some of the parts from the AD2 and what I had to create this masterpeice! below is a list of mods. The body is custom painted by ME using spray cans not an airbrush(for tips on how I did it see the "show off your stadium truck thread") Hope you all enjoy!!!

Changed a-arms to graphite AD2
Changed front hubs to AD2
F/R Wheels & tires to AD2
Rear aluminum hubs, CVD axles with quickrelease setup AD2
F/R Graphite shock towers AD2
Graphite chassis upper deck AD2
Aluminum slipper shaft and dual slipper setup.

All the rest pf the components like the battery box, front bumper/bulkhead, receiver box, and servo mounts, and servo saver, and transmissionare left from the original. as I figure those parts being delrin will have better flex ability under inmacts, as they are higher impact ares...

electronics setup

throttle/brake: JR Racing Z270 Standard Race Servo
steering: HiTec HS-5645MG
Receiver: Spektrum SR3300T
Radio: Spektrum DX3S

Engine:

Omega XT .12,slide carb, side exhaust, high performance racing engine
Adam Drake Edition Tuned exhaust & manifold.

I think that covers it all...

been a fun build for sure. may go do some practice laps at the track this weekend, but aside from that it is going to most likely get put up for sale so I can start funding more rebuild projects... with the limited space, and track restrictions out here in the SF Bay area to run these, I plan on getting rid of the bulk of my vehicles and sticking with a buggy , my Axial crawler, and an on road car...
