Yeah I think buying used RC's is the way to go. I just 4 cars. 2 HPI RS4 2' and 2 RC10GTls for 100 bucks. I was thinking about fixing them a little and selling them but now that I am tearing them down and having fun doing it I just might restore them and keep them all. lol.

I have 9 RC's. All of which I got used, excepta fewI built from scratch. It is fun for sure. You can get them for cheaper used, then build them how you want them. You have heard of the 4 Tec cars? This was an Electric 4 tec that I modded and added 4 inches to the front and rear wheel base, she handles like a dream.

She might be an old style ST, but she is built new from scratch and built for some fun. Looking forward to nicer, warmer, dryer weather to break her in.

RE: Show off your ST thread.
i got it off of ebay. its a vgracing roll cage. its pretty light for what it is. I hate tearing up bodies so ive always run roll cages. its served its purpose more than once! Keeps my original body brand new on the shelf !
I wish now i would have gotten a jato 2.5 cage because i switched to rpm a arms and bumper, and the original mounts screwed into the front bumper where the sway bar was held down. had to modify it a tad. its holdin up great though.

RE: Show off your ST thread.
This is my DuraTrax Maximum ST which is sort of a modded out hybrid of the Max ST Pro, Max MT, and the Nitro Evader.
Features:
-all blue aluminum chassis, arms, hub & carriers(Maximum ST/MT Pro)
-CVD drive shafts shafts(maximum MT)
-DTX .18 with blue stage 2 heatsink(Evader)
-DTX .18 manifold and tuned pipe (Evader)
-single speed Transmission with Aluminum counter gear and top shaft
-steel 52t dual slipper spur gear
-14t clutchbell for better acceleration
-modified Pro Line masher 2000 with extra tread added to the sidewalls, and custom notched treads to give it better grip mounted on DT Max ST White 2.2 rims (offroad)
-Treadless Proline Masher 2000 SLICKS(these are the ones I cut the tread pieces off of to mod the other mashers with) mounted on the original Max ST Yellow 2.2 rims (onroad)
-futaba S3006 servos which are the next to be upgraded
-Spektrum DX3S SR3300T receiver system, still waiting for the RPM sensor mount, and the nitro temp sensor to come available. once that happens I'll have full telemetry on this baby.
I bought this initially and it had a OS .15 CV-R and was mickey moused together with duct tape and bubble gum. had the Maximum MT tires on it which were all horribly unbalanced and had stripped hexes, and a blown diff gear to name just a few issues. but had almost all the aluminum upgrades with the exception of the steering knuckles which I replaced with the blue aluminum CNCed ones. love this little truckand my other Max ST, which is more of a pro version with the DTX Torq .16 engine with a Losi Adam Drake edition pipe, and aluminum hub carriers and steering knuckle. there are pics of that one in my garage gallery.
here's a pic of the Pro Max ST
next up is my newest work in progress, my losi Mini Desert Truck which is an electric, but being built into one bad ***** Mini ST
has most of the hop ups I could get for it. with the brushless system this thing can almost take my Nitro TC3+
-Aluminum swing arms
-chromed roll cage, front bumper, and engine guard
-proline mini smashers wirth balck chrome rims
-led light system
-dual slipped clutch
- blue aluminum motor plate and heatsink
-aluminum pinion gear set (9t,10t, 11t)
-aluminum oil shocks with racing springs(med front, hard back)
-Losi 8200Kv brushless system ( had to send it in for warranty replacement afte the ESC smoked itself out of the blue and am waiting for it to come back)
-7.4V 1000mAh 2cell LiPo soon to be replaced with the 1300mAh 3s LiPo
here's the build pics
On a final note to the OP queitnas1, I have a nitro rush collecting dust in staorage, with most of the parts, engine , pipe, and some replacements I bought from ebay and LHS, I sent you a PM with more details, but hit me up if you are serious about wanting one of those!!!

RE: Show off your ST thread.
Ok you asked for pics quietnas, here you go ;-)
This rc might look familiar:
RC10GT, with new body and new LRP .18 engine.........Sorry no pics of it without the body yet, but I will take some asap....
Quietnas I know I said I was gonna get a jato 3.3, but I wanted something with less power until I get used to handling and being able to control an rc with alot power like the jato, so I settle for the sport for now:

Yo ilanstylz I was just about to comment that you have some of the sickest looking RC10GT's man. Bro you did an awesome job with it. Im glad it went to a good home. I have actually started rebuilding the HPI's that I bought and I ordered some parts from my LHS for the GT's. Once those parts come in I think Im going to start ordering aluminum parts for them. That 1st GT you built really inspired me man. I have never had an all aluminum RC and even though it may be a little slow due to the weight I just love the bling factor. By the way the NITRO SPORT is a decent truck and there is good aftermarket support for it. That thing looks nice man. Let me know when your ready for the Jato. Got plenty of tips. Welcome to the TRAXXAS family.

RE: Show off your ST thread.
quietnas, going all aluminum really doesn't change the weight too significantly from what I experienced, only by a couple of ounces. I actually checked it out with my 2 duratrax maximum STs as one is all aluminum, and the other is still mostly stock, and the weight difference is pretty minimal. making the decision is also dependent on whether you want a true "basher" that won't nuke off a bad jump or if you are going for a race ready vehicle. Another thing about aluminum is this, for every plastic part you replace with aluminum it tends to transfer the break point of the vehicle. I usually go almost all aluminum, and leave the pivot blocks/hinge plates as plastic or delrin, so the breakpoint is at the a very inex*****ve place to replace, and prevents me from getting a bent chassis or a arm, as those tend to be $$$ to replace. All told though, I like having at least a couple of all aluminums around for extreme jumping and launching, otherwise any race vehicles, I stay away from aluminum, as it is cheaper and easier in most cases to swap out an OEM part.

djzachtyler thanks for the advise. I dont race any nore. Havent raced in almost 7 years now. All I do is bash or high speed runs now. I just love the bling factor of aluminum. Check the GT above from ilanstylez. That thing is sick. Cant wait till im done with RS4's so I can get to work on the GT's.
