quietnas- I don't agree with your response on break-in fuel %.. I always use 20% for break-in and now all the new motors coming out say use 20% for break-in even on turbo motors, well maybe not all cause i only mess with O.S. , NOVAROSSI, and PICCO.

I see what your saying but this is what I have been doing for 16 years. I have engines that have lasted 4 -5yrs with no issues. I broke in my OS .21TM 2yrs ago and with Maxys 30% and it is still going strong with very good pinch. Plus I have my own break in method. To me what matters is the care you give your engine after you run it. Thats what really counts.

quietnas- you your rite the after care is what also counts, what is your method of break-in, mine is know matter what the manual saids i do 2 tanks at idle and 6 on the ground going in circles no hitting 2nd. gear, but the higher end motors i usally wont hit 2nd. gear for 1/2 gallon of fuel and NO full throttle for a gallon.

engines are perfectly fine broken in on 30% my jato has only had 30 from the get go.... and breaking in on 20 is fine also but if you want to go from 20 to 30 after break in you would need to rebreak in the engine on 30 but not to go from 30 to 20 and maxys is a great fuel its kinda perfumey compared to some others

Your alot stricter than I am. I do my first tank at idle off the ground then the next 2 in circles at quated throttle, next 4 at half throttle again in circles not hitting second. Then I start tuning and hitting full throttle.

devo i just got the menace broke in and the truck is very very fast thanks for all the help guys ,now for a jato question why is the jato so tune sensitive ,u bump a screw and it out of tune my pro 21 motor holds a tune for days just wondered why thanks

It's just how the 3.3 is. It is very sensative to adjustments. I like OS engines alot better.

How do I replace the rear half shaft on the Jato? There doesnt seem to be any good way to attach the ball/pin fitting with out breaking something

Ithinkyou mean the metal ball/pins that connect the half shaft to differential yoke and stub axels.

If this is the case I would try to heat the parts up a little with very hot water and then try to remove balls while the plasticparts around them arestill hot and flexible. I would use a thin strong screwdriver to slowly pry apart the joints. Make sure you dry them right away and don't heat the up too much or you will compromise their structural integrity or worse they will melt. Heat them up just enough to make it a little easier to work with.

For extra credit. Try to do this without touching the sides so as not to set off a loud buzzing sound and lighting upthe red lightbulb on your Jato's nose.

Where do the batteries go when you take them off the back? I bought a Jato used and would love to move the batteries inside the car to the middle but can not find anything about how or where to do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated/

,look at the middle of the car there will be a clip like what hold the body on ,little door i put a 6 volt flat pack i the aa pack will fit but its a pain

I use the OS No.8 plug. It is a medium heat plug which is great for the climate here in South Florida.

I am new to the Jato and was looking at some post byt do not want to scroll through 130 of them so I have some questions. I will be doing some street and some dirt time with the car and there is a local track here that I can see myself going to once in a while. So I guess I am looking for a good all around set up. I do not plan on racing just having fun. I do not mind spending moneyon parts just want parts that are going to perform better.

What does everyone think of aluminum parts vs plastic? I have heard plastic is better because it is lighter.

Is it worth it to move the batteries to the middle of the car?

I have heard the good shock upgrade is the nitrade coated shocks from traxxas what springs woulld you recommend?

What tires and rims for both street and dirt.

What upgrades would you recommened? I have the RPM A arms already?

Is the lighter chasis worth it?

Is going to a pull start to save wieght worth it if I am not going to race?

The only time i move the batteries to the middle is when I'm running much bigger tires that have great grip and act as bigger gyro's off jumps causing extra nose up issues.
The traxxas upgraded silver chassis is so worth it. It is much stiffer in the front were alot of the jato's tend to flex and break top plates.
I hate pull starts, box or roto start for me. Box start to save weight and rotational mass, rotor for ease of starting without worrying about breaking a cord or pulling and pulling with a bad tune.
