I also like a "bigger" radio (the top part of it). I have tried many Futabas, they are just too slim all around! My last radios were JR's, one was a "terrible" Hitec, i'd never buy one again. Mine has 18 models of memory... there are like only 5 users that post currently that have this many rc cars/trucks/boats!

looks good the way the body is... i prefer an RC with less decals. I cant stand any of those million colored air brushed lids either, i stop at 3 colors.

Yeah i am not much of a fan of the 2.5 either. 2 of them I made into necklaces. The plastic carb is a huge downer. I guess one of the "cool" new things is that composite piston... i saw it a while ago on maxxtraxxusa forums.
The trx 2.5 was originally designed for the 4-tec. Traxxas went crazy and put them in everything which was a big mistake especially on the t-maxx.

I just finished breaking in my, Jato for the first time. this is easly the best rtr car i have ever driven. my, brother bought a revo, its all great and everything, but its not even close to the speed. i have pushed my, jato to its limit and im going to do it. again today, at 5. and so you know, you might. have some problems first starting the engine, but oncce you get past that, your ok. also, it has oversteer which is pissing me off when i try to top off. for some odd reason i cant trim it perfectly, i turn the nob no more then half a milimeter, and it starts steering the other direction. this is a great truck, get it!

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

The stock tires do have a ton of over-steer, especially on pavement.. just take it easy. I've upgraded to Glad's and Edge's and its perfect now. I think of it as a touring car with this set up.

Glad you like it. I'm sure everyone who owns one will.

I had to turn one down, and it wasn't ez :(. I decided to get a decent "Quality" FM radio since I have never had one, nor used one.

Then i realized that it would cost me 250 for a new .12 TZ engine, 159.99 for radio, 360 for jato, and another 50 for tires. I didnt want to spend over 800 to have the top of the line truck :(

I'm pissed!! I was on the fourth tank, which is full throttle for a 3 second count, and about halfway through the tank I drove it in to check the fuel level, and I saw the engine was smoking! [&o] So I immediately shut it off went and got my blue blower, to cool down the engine and then richened the HSN and the LSN [:o] This happpened to my rustler too [:@]

I broke in my Jato today with no problems. Still on the stock glow plug and i'm on the 8th tank. The tires are a different story being bald. :) But i did manage to have it pop a wheelie going over a slight incline.

This is my, jato after i broke it in. i love this car but i cant handle the 2wd and the power. EVERY ONE SHOULD BUY IT!!!!!

Medrivfast 05-08-2005 11:28 AM

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

The 2wd is something to get used to. I'm so used to 4wd. But 2wd is fun to watch, especially when your peeling out and trying to drift this thing.:D

The stock tires are pritty bad on loose dirt. Pick up some lose step pins and front ribs or proline tires.

That looks wicked nice freak. Dang.

Yesterday I did some high speed running and grass running with glads and edges. Boy did this thing rip! And for those people who have driven there's on pavement, Doesn't it handle like a touring car? its such a great feelin'. On the grass it soaked up all the ditches and bumps nicely with those oversized shocks. I can't wait to race thins thing!

here's an updated pic:

-RPM Blue Clawz with Edges and Gladiators
-Futaba 3PM radio
-Venom Receiver pack
-Traxxas tuned pipe
-Traxxas Blue Head

unbreakable--i see you are using a different radio, when you switch out the rx did you switch out the stock servos? if not, did you notice any twitching. I am going to swith to a new radio, but read some post where people are saying they got horrible twitching with the stock servos for some reason, some claim it ruined the rx.

Kemo 05-08-2005 02:22 PM

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

That shouldnt be the case, they should always work, no matter what kind of servo it is.... SHOULD work.

Unbreakable207 05-08-2005 02:36 PM

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

Yah I heard about that too, twitching.

I'd say its a radio thing because I'm not getting ANY twitching at all.

Drum 05-08-2005 03:56 PM

RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

Yeah my servos twitch after turning my wheels to the left, when I turn to the right you can barely tell

i dont want to say it, but i gotta. Typical terrible Traxxas electronics. My radio will be here tomorrow, maybe i can convince you guys to pick one up too. Its the MX-3S, you probably heard (not heard, but SAW) me talking about the darned thing a million times now. From what I have read, its a solid radio, and its "VALUE" is a lot better compared to the Futaba 3PM. Heck, the standard MX-3 was rated better than it too!

im planning on using the xs3 from my lst with a xxtra. Hopefully I wont notice any problems

drum--your using the stock radio and getting the twitching?

Definitely a great valued radio. but the MX-3 lacks many features that the futaba has. But I do like the mx-3, its a very nice radio, ive used it too. But the 3pm is no little brother.
