I’m truly impressed with the Firestorm's performance. I previously had the Nitro Rush and the Firestorm is a HUGE improvement in performance, reliability and durability. Not to mention this G3.0 Nitro Star series motor doesn't even compare to the .15 Nitro star which was in the Rush. The Engine literally purrs at idle, and lays torque down ridiculously. I can pop wheelies whenever I please on asphalt. I constantly monitor engine temperature and It runs 200 degrees consistently.

The rear tires are pretty lame; they were roasted after about 8 tanks of on/offroad mixed driving. I found that changing out the rear tires to some Losi's really helps out with off-road traction.

HPI's clutch spring is my biggest complaint. I swapped it out to a Traxxas spring ($3.00 dollars retail-comes with two) and haven't had any issues since. I did go through a pull starter already once I got near the end of my first gallon of nitro.

Overall, this truck simply hauls ass and tests your ability to break it; which is pretty hard to do. I am so impressed with this kit I would recommend it for the Racetrack or simple neighborhood bashing. Every time I drive it I'm more and more impressed- keep it up HPI!

guys will a properly tuned firestorm be in the right temperature cos i havent got a temp gun and i am a little worried what temp the engine is reaching. i want to know if a tuned engine with visible smoke at idle and full throttle can still be in dangerously high temperatures? or it only rises dangerously if there is no smoke.

I think that you engine won't overheat. I have a temp gun and when I run my engine that is tuned it is usually around the 195 to 205 degree area so I think you will be fine.
Also, how do you post pictures on the forum? I want to post some of my truck in snow.

The Fuel tubing in place of the small o-rings works very well. They stay in much better so you don't need to worry about losing them. That was one of the first things I did to my Firestorm.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

I just got the airtronics mx3 fhss and have yet to try it out but I like the feel of it. Futaba 3pm also a good choice. Alot of people like Nomadio but just a liitle to spendy for me. I would really look into getting a 2.4ghz radio, no more interferences.

im thinking of buying a few things for my new firestorm. Are the following good choices?
1. OFNA Micro Failsafe
2. Hobbico After Run Engine Oil

Also, should i invest in a temp gun, and if i buy extra glow plugs, what size/ kind should i look for?

I have been using the Mccoy mc-58 but I just bought some new Fox glow plugs because I like to keep extra ones. A temp gun would be nice but I don't think that you need it if you tune your engine well.

Also you should definetly get the after run engine oil because it helps maintain your engine running well but I don't know about the failsafe. I don't use one and I just pay attention to the batteries in my transmiter and my car. When the light blinks on the transmiter change the batteries and I can notice when the batteries run low on the car. Maybe instead you should save that money and get a temp gun. As for the glow plugs the last post where just some of the ones I use but it depends on the amount of nitro you run on your car. I run 20% so I use a medium plug if you run 10% you might want to run a hot glow plug.

can anyone recommend an after run oil? I was looking at the ones on Amazon and was wondering which i should get (if it matters)...

I use Hobbico after run oil and it does the job well. Also Towerhobbies is a pretty good place to order rc stuff from here's a link to my after run oil:

Do you have alkaline AA batteries in your car or do you have a NiMH battery pack? If you run your truck on AAs then get a battery pack or pick another failsafe because that one can't be used if you have alkalines.

whatever is stock on the firestorm is what im using....batteries i think (christmas present, havent gotten it yet)

Just unwrapped my new firestorm from under the tree, and i was wondering if i should just stick to the break in process in the manual ( it looks really short) or should i do something else. Also, would the cold be a setback breaking in the engine, tuning, etc.?

woo...slap hands..i did too......im going to run mine at a quarter throttle for a tank or two before i go straight to half throttle...im going to stretch it out to about six or seven tanks
