Default New To Painting

Hi I'm new to the RC world and I'm very interested in painting my own bodies. But when I order some supplies I don't want to forget anything. So can some of you painting experts out there give me a quick list of what I should buy?

I'm not an expert but I can share with you that I already read a magazine with a lot of tips. You can try at towerhobbies with this link: [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXANX0&P=7]Painting & Detailing Magazine[/link]

Ok thanks I'll be sure to check it out. But I was kinda looking for an idea on what supplies I would need besides paint. I have a compressor and airbrush but thats about it. What are some other items that would be of help?

Uh...filo_stylez, primer isn't good for painting rc bodies, unless you are painting on the outside. If we used primer on the inside, it would look white on the outside...But sandpaper is recommended, but not required. Of course, you need spray cans if you're not using an airbrush, airbrush paints if you are using an airbrush, thinner if you use an airbrush, masking tape or liquid masking if you do two or more color bodies, and denatured alcohol for cleaning up overspray.

Some ideas from Painting & Detailing Magazine... Window mask (vinyl), paper masking tape or Vinyl Tape, twin-blade knife (helps to quickly make parallel tape sides), liquid mask.

It Magazine states some workshop essentials: Bench or table, body blast, body reamer, cotton swabs, curved lexan scissors, cutting mat, good lighting, hobby knife, masking tape, paint, paper towels, respirator, ruler, warm and well ventilated area, window cleaner and.... patience.

rubbing alcohol can also be helpful to clean the outside of the body if you used a sharpie to draw your design on the outside. unless your body already has overspray film then you dont have to worry about cleaning it off. just another thought.

Yes there are many different types check out.

or

I use Faskcolor paints they are waterbased and are great for clean up. You just have to do many light coats to get good results. Hope this info helps.
