First attempt at painting.....What do you think?
I painted this as a favor for a friend. I used Tamiya spray paint and masking tape. I think I'll look into an airbrush and some masking materials. It should make the job a lot easier. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Thanks, I appreciate it. The center stripe was done with saran wrap. First I sprayed red, then blotted it with saran wrap, then I sprayed another coat of red and let it dry. I finished it by adding a coat of black.

Thanks. No, I probably did it the hard way. I drew the design on the outside of the body, then took the masking tape and placed it over the design. I then trace the design onto the masking tape and cut it. I then placed this piece on the opposite side of the body (because it was a mirrored image). I did the same thing on the other side. Once I had this on the body and began painting, I would just cut as needed. I know there has to be an easier way, but like I said, this is my first time.

Well, I've already given it to the guy I painted it for, but I'll see if I can get over to his house to take a closer shot. Thanks for the compliments.

Sweet job man, excellent first attempt.
My first attempt was a 1:8 scale corvette with crimson red paint and various shades of blue metal flake - and yours really shows mine up.
Keep up the good work.

Dude, pretty hot for your first...The Marblizing effect looked great from the angle you had. House of Kolors makes different Marblizer colors in 4 oz bottles....I have all but the lilac...Lilac? Backing it with silver or Alclad II Chrome looks great too. I did a Proline F650 black with red Marblized flames with pearl blue pinstriping around the flames. Marblizing is an awesome effect once you grasp the concept.
What type of tape did you use? The Parma Fastape works great in preventing bleed through.
