Custom Realistic Fire
This is my first post on RCU. Just thought I would drop a line here and see what you guys think of my paint work. This is a photo of the new RAE (Roy Anderson Engineering) 1957 Pro Mod drag body. Next is the REVO Crowd Pleazer 2.0 shell and last is the Protoform Dodge Stratus 3.0 Touring car body. I can also paint this in real blue and purple as well. Any comments would be appreciated. I also paint many other styles of paint schemes, this is one of my newest and open for suggestions. Thanks

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
Never have i seen something so perfect, this is exatcly wut i wanted to do on my next body and eventually a whole lot more. AMAZING, so hot. 2 questions, what airbrush are u using, i am thinking of getting an iwata hp cs and secondly what is the technique for doing on rc's. I understand how to do it on a motorcycle tank for example, but how do u do it from the inside? Do u start with red, yellow orange then backit with white? Thanks

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
Here is a pic of realistic blue fire on a Silverado HD Proline body. The technique is very difficult to do backwards. What I did is buy a real fire DVD and just do everything backwards. It my take months to finally get it right. I use the colors first then do all of my shadowing last. Takes time and a bit frustrating but wirth it when your finished.
I use Iwata air brushes, hp-c and hp-b

Here is another one on a REVO stock body that I painted for a Harley Dealer. The logo is also painted in Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome outlined in faskolor black.

I like to use the Spaz paints on the real fire, candy paint jobs and all the chrome trim. You have to be careful with the chrome when painting and how and where you use it. The candy colors work great!

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
Here is a pro mod 63 corvette body I painted and mixed up some spax stix paints to achieve the main colors. The flames are hand drawn and are all pearl. Everything is painted and hand drawn, I dont use any commercial masking, just masking tape and my x-acto knife.

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
Thanks, it takes quite some time to learn effects backwards on rc bodies. I appreciate the comments, some of them are cracking me up!!
I am located in Michigan. After Christmas, I should have some new ones on ebay and my new site is almost finished. The site should be up tonight - the old one is gone. I has to pay the guy that built it $10.00 per shell - the new one will also have lower prices because I dont have to pay anyone. I have a 56 Nomade and several new toruing car shells that will be painted in all sorts if different fire designs. Green, pruple, red-yellow, blue and my new on is grayish smoke - looks killer.

zielkeracing your work is astounding!!! How much will it cost for a real flame shell thats blue but the flames have a bit of red and orange in them, near the base of the flames? Also if i could get some other people buying a shell from you, how much discount will you give me on my shell :P
O yea heres the link to the shell shape.

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
The guy ( I can't recall his name at the moment ) that I believe started the real fire craze is from the Seattle area. A friend of mine in Wenatchee Wa had him flame his 1:1 black 32 full fendered Ford Coupe. The car was in color and the guy drove over, air-brushed fire on the front fenders, hood sides and a few licks down the sides. Total time, about 6 hrs including BS'g. Cost .. $4000 and that was a $1000 off to promo the car at a Seattle show. AND this was before he became well known and PRICEY.

are you talking about mike lavallee? if so, he's awsome. he wasn't even into painting cars, he was a sign painter i think. then started pinstriping at car shows and one thing led to another. he's been on discovery and tlc a few times showing off his talent.

RE: Custom Realistic Fire
Yup .. That's him. Was fun watchin him do it. To tell the truth, the car was awesome and won awards everywhere, but it grew old on ME. I think real fire will eventually fade away like the mono-chromatic and chamillion ( sp ) paint jobs. My 32 hi-boy coupe has trad flames and it will always be around and a favorite.
