You can use the non-slip pads that are found in the kitchen/home section of Target or other similar store. They are slightly rubberized in a tight checkered pattern. Tape this padding down onto your body and then use a dark grey/black paint, parma faskolor charcoal grey is great. Then take the non-slip padding off and paint black over it and you will get that tight checkered pattern you are looking for. Good Luck.

Are talking about painting over carbon fiber or trying to duplicate the carbon fiber look? If you're trying to paint over it I wouldn't. Carbon fiber is sweet. If it's the look you're going for sorry couldn't help you. You might want to try randhellis's idea. Try it out on something first to see if you can get the look you're looking for and also to pratice doing it. Good luck. If you find a easy way to duplicate the carbon fiber look please post a response or thread. I'd like to know!
