Help with first paint job
Hey guys, just got my first clear lexan shell, its a proline crowd pleazer 2.0 for my associated Monster GT. Now i have to say trimming this thing is really hard i just found out lol, ive done it mainly with scissors as with the X acto i was using there so dam sharp it just wants to roam all over the place lol, plus it takes forever to cut through the thick lexan. Is there a special way to do it?
And now the paiting. I can only use tamiya paints, as thats all the LHS has. I got some paints but it sais for plastic, and im sure theres a version that is made for polycarbonate so im taking it back to get the right stuff. Now i want a simple 2 tone paintjob, that well will be simple, yet stand out.
Can anyone post any designs, and what colours go well, i would like white to be one of the colours as i think it looks good on RC bodies.
Thanks

RE: Help with first paint job
i find it easier to trim it first, that way i can see the lines, can see where i need to put the body holes etc, Any way it dosnt matter if it oversprays, ive still got my overspray film on it so its fine. So any paint designs? Using white as main colour

I need help too. I have a nitro rustler body (stock style), clear lexan. The way I understand it, you have to paint the inside, right? Well how the hell and I supposed to make kickass designs that way? Should I just accept that it's incredibly difficult and time-consuming? I did a ****ty job cutting it out anyway...

RE: Help with first paint job
well, there are some tricks many use carried over from "Automotive Painters"
i know ths will sound crazy but the painting is "Easy" the Preping is the hard part....
once preped.....honestly the painting is the lest of the harder parts...
except for the shading andcolors that just tkes "Practice"

RE: Help with first paint job
I don't know about other types of bodies, but with tamiya bodies, I just take a sharp knife (I use a carpet knife with a fresh blade) and run it along the cut lines. Then I bend it and it snaps off with a perfect cut line... much better than any job I've seen done with scissors.
