Cuban 8
I always thought the Cuban 8 was two loops connected by 45's.
I was taught the two loops should intersect each other in the radius (if the 45's were not there). Looking at the NSRCA ribbons/judging section it doesn't appear to be the case. Looking at the AMA rules it doesn't say to down grade for the loops being apart from each other.
OO versus OXO
Which is correct? If they can be separate then I owe a few fliers some points from the last contest.

Tim,
I'm almost positive they can be separate. I would think if the two had to be adjacent to each other the 45 degree line would have to be so short you would not be able to perform any maneuvers. In FAI you might see 2 loops with an integrated roll between them in which case the two would have to be touching, but just laying it out here with 2 quarters on my desk, I'm not sure how you would be able to do it if the two were touching,

RE: Cuban 8
I believe that a proper Cuban would be geometrically impossible if the loops are touching. Ola Fremming did a manuver analysis for P-09, here is a Cuban 8, its clear that the loops cannot possibly be touching.

RE: Cuban 8
Good thing I read the rule book again. Nice that the ribbons are on the NSRCA website.
Thanks for the confirmation I was screwing up. DOH!
Thanks for the diagrams.
