RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
Hi. jarvis
this is way to set up...
1. Motor up thrust: 1.5 degree
2. CG position: Just 1/2inch front of CF wing pipe.
So, you can movebattery to front (all most center position of landing gear mount.)
Please do not make a down thrust motor. It is usefuldesigne.

Hi Jarvis,
I'd also say that you should get the CG squared away before you adjust anything else. Based on your pics, it looks like it will have to move forward quite a bit to move the CG to 1/2" in front of the tube. How does it do with the old 45 degree inverted upline test? I also look for the fuse to be level in a 60 degree banked turn, if the tail is low then its tail heavy. Turn off your mixing for now.....
Hope to see you at Riverside.

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
Hi all:
this are the models that BJ craft are selling now. The monolog 70 looks so nice, here is a pic of world champion Giichi Naruke and BJ looking the M70.
I have the monolog 400 coming from a store in japan. i will for sure make a build log and see the results. I'm leaning towards the 140 with a 30 DLE and pitts muffler, seems like a nice low cost combination, I'm no pro and here in Mexico F3a is not very popular so i think this kind of airframes and motor will be a interest option for the market in my country.
Cheers,
Claudio

Guys there will be 2 Monologs on display at both the Worlds and the Nationals in Muncie. F3A Unlimited has a huge booth and will have the planes built and showing.
They are putting them together and plan on at least having the2 metertest flown by then.
Plans are to install the new Himax 210 in the 2 meter plane with the Castle HV80ESC. Their goal is to have a plane that'ws very competitive easy to build and very affordable.

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
I'll be flying the Monolog 2x2 at the Nat's this year. It will be powered by the Himax 210 also. the plane is light, with Sky Lipo 4400 20c, the weight around 4868 grams.
The Himax 210 would pull my first Monolog, like a Missile, using a PT 21x 14 pro. it a very good motor.

Great Jarvis I really look forward to seeing it. I have a number of guys that are interested in the plane. I think the Himax motor is getting pretty popular too. It sure is nice to have lower priced options available to get new people involved. See ya in about a month. Mike

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
The 2 meter Monolog is built and flying. I tried to build this with products that a new pattern flyer might use and even though they are heavier, the weight was still under 5kg. There was no honeycomb or other lightweight materials used here, the radio mount, ESC mount and switch mounts are all lite ply instead.
Himax 210kv
APC 20.5-14
Castle ICE 80HV
Generic plastic spinner (heavy)
800mah rx battery with Jaccio perfect switch assembly
Power Unlimited safety arming switch
Power Unlimited 25C 4900 batteries
Pics below. First flight was a non event and I was fortunate enough to bump into Don Szczur at the field and he took over so I could take pics. These pics are on the first flight so you can see it was a very good flying plane right away.
**Thanks to Larry K. for doing the actual building - I just selected and supplied the items that went into the plane

The 2 meter Monolog is built and flying.
Running off the top of my head this looks like a real "breakthrough" in pricing . . .
plane $850
motor $270
esc $160
batteries $200 (2 sets)
servos $400
prop $30
spinner $15
rx bat $20
under $2000 for everything!
That's a serious game changer!!
Can't wait to see this baby in flight!

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
Detail pics. More shortly. Final weight was 10lb 13oz (4.9kg). I could easily take 5oz from the plane if it was built with the best and lightest stuff ($$) but that was not the objective of this build.

I started on my Monolog on Monday and she is almost done. very light airframe and well put together. I am a big fan of composite wings and fuzes but I must say for a wood roach this things is pretty nice. Wings are 14 oz ready to fly. Will be trying the new himax 210 kv motor with Jeti 90 speed controller. More to come in the next few days. Anyone coming to the Omaha pattern contest will get a chance to fly it

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
whats the weight of the Monolog 110 with the DLE20 up front?
I'm dead keen on this airframe.
Who is the manufacturer? Links to online stores would also be great.
Thanks

RE: F3A MONOLOG 2X2 F3A METER
Flew the Monolog today; it reminded me a lot of the Focus. it is not a slow flying airplane especially with a 20 x 15 APC prop. i was impressed with the airplane the moment it took off. I added a couple clicks of down elevator for a trim pass. No Ailerons. Rolls were very axial. The next thing was the snap, and wouldn't you know it my rudder came off the airplane[&o]. Fortunately, i had a spotter watch it come. By the way the plane landed safely without the rudder. With rudder found, put the CA hinges back in the right way, and was flying 20 minutes later.
Knife edge flight required no mixing in either direction. it will need some down line mixing as there is a slight pull to the canopy. Not sure i am ready to give up my Integral just yet, but this plane is a great addition to the Pattern Community, and my hope is that it will sell well, so the manufacturers can keep making great entry level aircraft like the Monolog at a steal of a price. Another quick note; this is some of the Best Monokote job I have every seen from an ARF; 89 degrees in Omaha today with 90% humidity and no wrinkles after I left the field; priceless
In case you wanted to Know, with the Rhino pacs 4900, Himax motor, Jeti Speed controller; plane weighs 10lbs,9 oz.
