Default F3A plans

Hi all,

I had downloaded a pattern plan sometime back its was in a pdf format from some Japanese or Chinese website don't remember. It was similar to the F3A "addiction" now i cannot find that plan. If any one know the site please help me out.

Thanks,
High

I know the one you're asking about. I have it on my PC at work. I also converted the PDF to and AutoCad file and have drawn up complete templates for the wing and stab ribs spars etc.

Next time I drop into work I'll post them.

I Hope this is what you were looking for. The two text files need to be renamed to the .dwg and .dxf extensions.

The filenames have turned up a bit funny, the first .txt file should be renamed .dwg and the second should be renamed .dxf...... dwg files need AutoCad.
Attached Files
File Type: pdf
Lq37084.pdf (360.2 KB, 3329 views)
File Type: txt
Xv64068.txt (449.7 KB, 1892 views)
File Type: txt
Zu64016.txt (991.3 KB, 1342 views)

Hi Mark,
the second .txt file is is the .pdf converted to an Autocad .dxf file so you can modify the drawing. The first .txt file is an Autocad .dwg file that contains the same drawing but also the drawings of the parts to make the wings and elevators.

With regard to the wing and elevator drawings I made some pretty large assumptions in that the airfoils at the tips were the same as the root, this may or may not be the case in real life. I also assumed that the wings and stabs are straight without any weird twists built in. Interestingly enough I have one plane where the fin was straight but I had built the rudder with a twist (by accident) the plane didn't seem to mind, however years later I ended up rebuilding a straight rudder for it and it now needs a rudder to elevator mix for inside and outside loops. This is something I would like to explore more.

I'll convert my Aries 07 to Cad one day and use that as a reference for future projects...

I am also interested in these files, but cannot open the last two. I tried a converter, but it stated there was an error. Is there an easy way to covert to DWG, and DXF?

No need to convert the files. they are in the proper form, you just have to rename the file extension.  When you go to save it, Use "Save As" and where it says .txt in the name, rename it with .dwg so it will be called Attachment.dwg for the second file, and the third file will be renamed Attachment.dxf

When I click on it here in rcu, it comes to me in Note Pad, and the first line is File Name Xv64068, and the second line says Save as type, and it has a drop down, that only gives me an option of "all files" Itried it like this, dwg Xv64068, and Xv64068dwg, and when I go to where it was save it does not seem to have changed. I'm doing something incorrectly for sure, but do not know what.

Hi,

Ok, on the link, you 'right click' on it and 'save as', then when the dialogue box opens, you carefully click on the same line as the Xv64068 and you just type in " .dxf " and / or " .dwg " at the end so it looks like " Xv64068.dxf " and " Xv64068.dwg "

Then download a free 'viewer' and look at the detailing it's very well done

At the time, RCuniverse would only accept files with certain filename extensions for uploading, so I simply changed the filename extensions so they could be uploaded. The files are complete.
Please just change the three letter filename extensions back to what they should be as detailed in the previous messages.
You may have to enable viewing of filename extensions on your file explorer to do that?

I tried to do so, but couldn’t open the file even by changing the extension.

that would be your kindness if you email me the file/s in true format.

Hi Ehsan, I've just downloaded each file using a right click "save link as" and changed the .txt to .dwg (and .dxf for Zu64106) and they both opened in AutoCAD as normal.

Sorry if this doesn't work for you.

Change extension from .txt to .dwg
