RE: CA Model XURAMA BIPLANE Build Glow Powered
More work...
started mounting the bottom wing. it will be attached to the fuse with 3 6-32 screws. two on the back and one on the front, the back mount for this screws in the fuse is from 1 piece of 1/8 plywood, and 2 pieces of 1/8 lite-ply. they are sanded to anangle so the blind nuts match the angle from the screw coming from the wing.
the front mount is made of 1/8 lite-ply, plywood and balsa, laminated on both sides with carbon
both mounts glued to thw fuse with epoxy and microbaloons.
on the wing I inserted 3/8 hardwood dowel pieces tosupport the screws (there will be more reinforcement to this area later.

top wing... its mostly same as the bottom, the fiberglass center reinforcement is a little different, its wider at the trailing edge, I did this because this is where the plane is lifted at the field.

Hallo
NICE Job, I like to follow this build,,
I think ,, its look you made , the fueltank support , fore a tetra tank ,,
i can tell , you can save 35g ,, to take a K,S fueltank.. 600ml , VS Tetra 450ml, its same price!

Thanks Jim!!! I´m glad you like it.
Mark, that tank mount is not complete, there willbe more support after I calculate the exact CG to place the tank there. (you will see ina few posts)
Thanks Torben, yes,I will be using tettra tank, I know the K&S is ligther, but I just recently had a failure on a K&S tank, and never had one on a tettra, so tettra it is. BTW check te cap on the K&S periodicaly, it can came loose in flight and you dont want to know what happens.
Highfly3D, the nexpost will answer all your questions....
Regards.

Wing struts.
I will install the wing struts with 4 4-40 screws each, two on top and two on the bottom. I think this is stronger that just the wire and will hold better to the YS vibrations in time (is longer to put the airplane together at the field)
the wing has an internal plywood plate marked in the picture with masking tape, there is where the mounts will hold.

the tail former.. this former goes atthe back on the fuse and takes most of the torsion of the airframe, so it has to be glued very good. its made from 1/8 balsa and 2oz. glass clth on both sides.

stabs...
cutted the elevators, on this case I dont cut the elevs all the way to the tips, this way is easier to set up the plane, then started working on the stab tube. I sanded the tube sleeve tosave some weigth. then cut the pieces that goes inside the stabs. Inside the stabs there are two plywood ribes that hold the tube, so the tube shoud pass this ribs, no tube pass the second rib is needed so I cut the sleeves to go about 3mm pass that rib, then I will cut the tube to the required length this way I can save a couple of grams without compromising the structure.
