Default Excelleron 90 engine mount replacement

Hi Everyone,

Wanted some opinions about possible replacements for the stock isolation mount for the Excelleron 90. One of the rubber isolators just fell apart on me today, after close to a year of use (admittedly with a larger engine than originally designed for - it's a 120 2 stroke). I read some comments by other owners who tried the MK mount which basically said those are too soft.

I could either find a replacement (maybe Dave Brown if those are still available?) or just glue in wooden height spacers and hard mount the engine.

Cheers,
Ken

P.S. Anyone else find this plane rather sensitive to the wind?

I had one of those years ago, YS 1.20 in the nose with the stock mount. I never found it particularly wind sensitive, but the rudder and elevator had a less than linear feel.

Here is a link to the Dave Brown mount:

and here is link to a very long thread about the Excelleron 90:

The mount choices are discussed throughout the thread.

Having flown Pete's, the biggest issue with the wind is the fact the plane has a semi large wing for its weight, which is typical of the crossover (3d and Pattern) type planes, so it will get blown around a little more. Still not a bad flying plane.
