Hi Najary,

Another great build thread!

On the hinges to use, just wonder why not the CA type.

Thanks

Hi Nonstoprc,

I prefer the method of pivot pin over the plastic bending which I do not know how long it will last.

I like the GPM hinges because the epoxy glue penetrates into the holes and works like pins which prevent the hinges to come out from the control surface.

Best regards,

Isaac Najary

Understood. Maybe try a couple as the middle hingers first. I shared the similar view as yours before and now use CA type inclusively.

Isaac,

I see you adding the cover to the bottom of the horizontal stab halves. itsn't that going to cause any trim (up trim)?

On the choice of pushrods, it seems the metal ones could be replaced by solid carbon fiber type (say, 2.5mm) to save some weight.

Hi Ihncheol,

Theoretically you right, but it doesn't matter because you have to trim the plane anyway.

Yes, but how you connect the carbon rod to the plastic bearing link?

Thin cyano run into the assembled pushrod.
Used on several models over time , hence the extra tube in the middle!

Hi Najary,

I have great success with JB weld to glue the CF rod ends to the connectors.

I think these style of covers actually create more drag than an uncovered servo arm. The large opening at the back of the fairing/cover creates a very turbulent point with a high drag rise.

Hi Nonstop,

The carbon rod is superior were you want a long pushrod, but were you need a sort one I prefer the A metal pushrod because I is simpler and about the same weight.

Think about it.

Hi Najary,

yes, gluing the carbon fiber rods to the baring joints is more involving, as the length of the rod has to be cut precisely.

On comparison of weight of carbon fiber rods vs. metal rods, I am afraid CF rods definitely are lighter!

I quoted the [link=http://www.cstsales.com/carbon_rods-ss2.html]spec[/link] for Graphlite Carbon Fiber Rod: 0.098" Dia., 3 ft. long, 2.49 mm x 0.9 m, weight 7.2 grams

and the density [link=http://www.carbonfibertubeshop.com/tube%20properties.html]chart[/link] for CF tubes vs. other materials.
